Goal scoring winger. When the ball was with the opposite winger I'd get to be last man in the box and in amateur football it's amazing how many crosses sail over everybody.
A bit like watching Matt Lowton cross really.

I might be old but I played in the days of subs - albeit only one allowed then.dermotdermot wrote:Unused sub? What was a sub?

I was a centre forward but after scoring one goal in an entire season - in our last match - was moved to left side of midfield, where I was more prolific

Left wing, naturally left footed. My right was for standing on. Played in the East lancs league for Accrington amateurs for 15 years.

Junior School (Back Lane) there were 12 boys in the final year, I didn't make the school team.
BGS house team Brun, right back
Duke Bar, goalkeeper
Brunshaw United, centre half
Pike Hill Bombers, centre forward, centre half
BGSOB thirds, right back
DWS (Mauritius) Works Team, centre forward
Admiralty Social Club, Mauritius, right back
TNT Express office , right back
Coat of Arms Bridge Road Coventry , right back
Peugeot Talbot Social Club , right back
So you could say a jack of all trades, master of none but I enjoyed every minute and was never booked, sent off or dived.

I was never very technical but Ive always had pace, strength and the ability to score goals. I'm sort of like a much shitter, white, less racist Andre Gray.

More of a wing back. I was playing total football when Pep was a pip.

I was a central defender in park football. I didn't score many goals but in one game I'd scored two and we got a corner. The ball came over and bobbled about. It was on the end of my foot and I was about to poke it home when one of our forwards took it off my toe and kicked it home. The b.....d! That was the one and only time I got near to scoring a hat trick.

I think that you're the same age as me Tony, but I don't remember there being any subs at all.ClaretTony wrote:I might be old but I played in the days of subs - albeit only one allowed then.

Subs introduced into English football in 1965 when I was 13 - when I played local football there was always a sub.

Goalkeeper. Heavily influenced by the likes of Hansbury, Neenan, O'Rourke and Woodworth
