Keane
Very bad timing for him to go, but he is woeful in evertons colours, truly abysmal.
Pale shadow of his time at Burnley. Tripps seems to be thriving, Ings has had injury ruin his move, but a fully fit Keane looks a real dud.

A lesson for all.
Sums up Burnley quite well, average players performing well above average.
Then they leave our setup and go back to being average.
Truly is testament to the TEAM as a whole and the glue holding it all together, Mr Dyche.

Re: Keane
To be fair, he’s gone from playing in an exceptionally well drilled and settled defence, into a team where he has been asked to play in a 3, a 4, on the left side, the right side, with a selection of cart-horse slow, ancient or rookie partners and rarely the same combination twice. Is it any wonder he looks lost?
He seems to be Everton’s scapegoat no1 at the moment, but in his first few games their fans thought he was class. It’s everton that have destroyed his confidence.

He'll be fine in any decent defence but he looks devoid of confidence and there are so many gaps to fill he doesn't know whether to stick or twist.

Re: Keane
The problem, aside from Evertons lack of plan is that Williams is absolutely shot. Hes lost all pace. For wales against ireland he was pathetic and has in every gane for everton this season.

Re: Keane
So Saxo ... how would u rate your season so far , with your group? Not a barbed question . Just wondering how the reality of looking up at one and us is biting . Traditionally bfc , pne and brfc have all been a similar size with spells of success . I’m just wondering how big the bump was as u landed back on earth? And whether ur boys have the heart to turn it around?
Re: Keane
I think Keane is still a good player albeit he's gone missing and looking lost at present.
He and Everton had a reasonably good start to the season and are the only team, as yet,
tyo pick up a point against Man City.
It all started going wrong for them when we beat them 1-0 and they've been pretty poor since.

Re: Keane
Everton are toss, no framework, no leadership and no players willing to step up.
Of course, it can only be Keane's fault....
Is he average?
Nope, but he's playing with teammates who are struggling to find any collective form.
Trippier?
Spent a season as a sub.
Ings - ravaged by knee injuries but there was a very good player in there.

Re: Keane
Stones struggled to adapt initially at Man City but he is starting to learn his new trade. If Everton are prepared like City were to trust the players ability then Keano will be ok once they get a decent manager. I noticed he started at Left side of Central Defence at the weekend, surely he wasn't signed for all that money to play out of his natural position? Or maybe he was?

Re: Keane
Keane will be fine once they shoot Williams.
Oh, and stop playing kids who are not ready for the first team, just because they have a scouse accent.
Oh, and get rid of someone who is making Laws look like he had a clue.

I think we all saw enough of Keane over the previous two years to know he’s a very good defender who is going through a bad patch.

This situation just shows how its so much more than just going and buying the best players. You need the players you have to gel as a team.
The Liverpool defence situation always winds me up when pundits go on about how they need to go buy a whole new back line in January. All those defenders have proven at other clubs that they can defend well, but now at Liverpool the framework for a good defence isn't there so the players look poor players.

And you don't become a good player overnight like some suggested Keane was after 34 PL games. We aren't taking about a proven player here, he's a rookie and looks awful.Steve1956 wrote:You don't become a bad player overnight,MK will turn his form around.

Re: Keane
Keane was excellent for us for the last 2 seasons, but prior to that he was being held out of the side by Michael Duff at times. He had shown some promise, but also been at fault for quite a few goals, and Dyche went with Shackell and Duff for a period. He subsequently improved, and played in a very settled back 5, earning him an england call up. I can’t see any reason why he won’t be back to his best once Everton appoint a manager, and sign a decent CB in January
Ps. Hands off Tarks and Mee

So after 34 PL as first choice, are you saying you still class him as a rookie?KRBFC wrote:And you don't become a good player overnight like some suggested Keane was after 34 PL games. We aren't taking about a proven player here, he's a rookie and looks awful.
He looks awful because the whole bloody team is awful yet you continuously think it's him that's the problem...

Re: Keane
Keane needs coaching properly. He'll be a top defender if the likes of Fat Sam get hold of him, same as he was for SD.
On the other hand I would have fancied Williams as a stop gap in the summer..... thank God others had more sense. I have never known a player lose their legs so quickly, its almost scary.

They weren't awful defensively before he arrived, Williams has proven to be a very good defender in the PL over a number of years, Keane is very new to it all. Id suggest it is more down to Keane just not being good enough without an ultra defensive set up.Sidney1st wrote:So after 34 PL as first choice, are you saying you still class him as a rookie?

Where are the def mids and why aren't they doing their jobs?
Why aren't the strikers defending from the front?
There's no framework of any sort in place and it's showing.
We didn't have an ultra defensive set up, we had a well organised one.
Re: Keane
It doesn't change the fact that Keane should've stopped 3 of the goals on Sunday. You can make excuses for him all you want but the proof is in the pudding..Sidney1st wrote:Just wow...

Re: Keane
Looks like they took the wrong defender from an Everton point of view. Looks like Williams needs someone to get a grip of him and Mee would be more likely to have done that. Still.. Doubt that would have made that much of a difference as they look to have problems all over the pitch. Keane is a good defender but needs a leader or someone who will take equal responsibility and communicate next to him. Hope he gets it sorted as I want him to do well... (As long as it's not at our expense).

You keep on blaming just the one player, clearly showing up just how little you understand the concept of a team sport.
