Re: Dyche has to go
He's doing quite well
Still a long way to go though and if we do stay up, I'd expect him to move on. But I do wonder if he fancies the challenge of trying to take us to the next step which is becoming an established Premier League side.

I'm a doubter, I always have doubted us. I guess that's part of being a Burnley fan for me, I doubted us at Wembley, I doubted we'd win automatic promotion last season until it was mathematically possible and the exact same the promotion before. I doubted we would win the 3 games at home over the Christmas period (thought we'd pick up around 4 points, law of averages kind of thing), I doubted we would pick up points away from home and ultimately I doubted Dyche would keep us up. It's easy to look back with hindsight but ultimately I was wrong and I will happily eat the humble pie and look like an absolute worrying negative idiot.

KRBFC - not a dig at this thread by the way but are you managing to enjoy the performances now? I know you are anti "Dyche ball", as you put it, but do you genuinely think we are good/getting better to watch? Personally, I love, pretty much, every game at the moment. We are competing, play some neat stuff around our more direct, effective game and, massively importantly, are picking up the points. Great time to be a Claret

''I'm the most critical of our long ball style at times, but tonight I didn't think we were as direct. It was possibly a bit childish me bumping this. But another part of me thinks it's deserved given your relentless and unjustified negativity towards Dyche until recently. I hate such fickleness - if we go on a bad run you will turn on Dyche again. It's a shame because when off the subject of Dyche you do make some good points.

Re: Dyche has to go
Dyche has played this season beautifully so far. He knew, even with our new additions, that we were relatively inexperienced and under-equipped.
In the early days of the season he cut his cloth accordingly, picking up vital home points in the process using a very rigid framework. We weren't up to it away.
Now, confidence, fitness levels and Premiership nous has let the squad develop into a hell of a strong and skilful unit. Still relatively weak by some clubs' standards but I'd rather watch our development - even the defeats - than some of the soulless yet winning crap that's on offer.
Yes, it's easy to mock someone who was deliberately critical all the time, seeing nothing of any quality and they probably deserve some stick for not being able to understand or appreciate what the hell was going on however many games they went to watch the lads or not.
We've a long way to go yet - "We're not the finished product" as the Great Man says but, bloody hell, he's giving it a damned good go.
As I and others have said before, Dyche knows exactly what he's doing.

I have absolutely no problem in being proven wrong, in fact I'm over the moon to be proven wrong. Re: Dyche has to go
So I'm fickle for being proven wrong? I'm not a massive fan of the football but recently I have seen improvement and progress and it's becoming much more than just the hopeless long ball and 2 solid banks of 4. I was positive after the away defeat at Stoke because that was the first time this season we actually competed away from home, it showed to me that we were making progress.taio wrote:It was possibly a bit childish me bumping this. I have been ultra critical of our transfer approach in the previous PL season under Dyche (I stand by my criticism of the signings) but we have clearly made massive strides in the players being targeted and signed. So if I don't continue to criticise the transfer policy 2 years later, I'm fickle? I honestly don't see how it's fickle to give an opinion on the same matter at 2 different points in time (2 years apart) do I just continue to criticise the club for the dealings 2 years ago? despite being happy at the present situation? I say as I see, If I think our signings from 2 years ago were crap and unambitious I will say so, that doesn't mean I think the exact same of the current crop we've brought in.
''But another part of me thinks it's deserved given your relentless and unjustified negativity towards Dyche until recently.''
Absolutely but I stated my opinion at the time and for the stupid comments made at the time I will hold my hands up and admit i'm an idiot with an idiotic opinion but it's easy to look back with hindsight, I stand by certain points I made (the football away from home was horrific at the time) but we've improved away from home since. Other points I made like ''we should get rid of Dyche to give us the best chance at survival'' have been proven to be absolute delusional OTT bullcrap.

Re: Dyche has to go
I still stand by my point from October, though I don't think we will get get relegated now. But Dyche will leave next season, if not before.
The scenario's are -
Burnley stay up - bigger club will headhunt Dyche. The offer will be too alluring to turn down and he will feel he has taken Burnley FC far enough.
Burnley go down - bigger club will headhunt Dyche on his achievements over the last three years here and he will want a new challenge.
So it's inevitable. The directors should be keeping an eye on potential replacements, a short list of proven managers at this sort of level because it will be coming soon I think.

Re: Dyche has to go
Scenario 3: Having stayed up, Dyche fancies at least another year to push us onwards again, making the most of the increased investment on the pitch. How many years did Fat Sam stay at Bolton, for example? Dyche has proved himself with two promotions and hopefully a season of survival, perhaps the bigger fish will really take note if he has an even better second season in the Premier League.claptrappers_union wrote:I still stand by my point from October, though I don't think we will get get relegated now. Re: Dyche has to go
3 times in his time here there has been a period where sections of our fans have wanted him gone.
The first was when he first came, this had quite a lot of support and really was testing for him.
The second just before Christmas last year when we went up. Significantly less support for his departure that time but still a vocal minority.
And finally, the third was around the period this post was made. Gladly, hardly anyone agreed as most know by now not to doubt the man.
Lets hope there will not be a fourth at all.

Re: Dyche has to go
Sounds more like a worry than a prediction that SD would move on. He has full backing and complete control. Having such a massive influence on how our club is shaping must give him a great deal of satisfaction. He is paid well. It would be some opportunity for him to move on in the near future.

Nothing in particular, I just seem to remember a lot of threads that were very critical of our performance that day and home form since the start of the year.
