Theo Walcott
Theo Walcott
Could we compete with Southampton, could we afford his wages, would he come? Would you like him in our team? I know its very, very unlikely but if you don't try.

Yes (but we wouldn`t)/No/No/No

Re: Theo Walcott
My natural response would be to say that this would never happen.
However, if he isn't getting game time and cannot get a guarantee from Wenger that he will have this going forward, there may be some drive to look at getting him out on a short term loan to help his World Cup chances.
If that was the motivation, the probability of going somewhere where a team is doing well and that there is a good chance of starting more games surely will outweigh most other considerations such as money etc as these probably could be met in part by Arsenal still.
Don't believe there is anything in it but sometimes things happen which you don't expect. Who would have thought that Joey Barton would become a burnley player following the bottle being thrown at him.

Re: Theo Walcott
When you see Wolves competing and winning against Real Madrid in the transfer market then the answer is yes we should compete.
Will we? I very much doubt it.

Hopelessly inconsistent and not a Dyche type player. We don't sign "big names" (on ridiculous wages) and I for one would be looking elsewhere.

If Real Madrid really wanted that player, he'd be there.Quickenthetempo wrote:When you see Wolves competing and winning against Real Madrid in the transfer market then the answer is yes we should compete.

He's also been a youth player at Barca and left.
His agent probably has more of a say though, because he's sending several players to Wolves, so his must be doing well with his fees.

Players who are motivated by game time in the PL, fitness and working with a good manager will come. Players who are mainly motivated by money wont. I'm ok with this. It hasn't done Wilshere any harm spending time at Bournemouth although he won't have been cheap.

Re: Theo Walcott
Hes just a good oxlade chamberlain.
In seriousness though anyone who thinks hr isnt good enough for us is insane. And anyone who thinks he isnt a dyche player probably is too. Always came accross as grounded and intelligent and a hard working player. A perfect dyche player.
He only needs to see how often southgates at the turf. Cant see it though. If he would rather play for england than southampton then right now at least we are the best option.

Re: Theo Walcott
Completely unrealistic target due to wages and the fact that I don't think there's a cat in hells chance that Theo Walcott would be keen to come to Burnley.
Also, NEVER rated him as a footballer and won't start now just because we have been loosely linked with him.

Didn't Stephen Jordan have him in his back pocket during our first PL campaign at TM?

Re: Theo Walcott
Markovic from Liverpool is a more realistic option in terms of finances, but not enough known as to whether he would fit into the Dyche mould/framework.

Surely that would be a situation where the loan market would come into play? Try before you buy.IAmAClaret wrote:Markovic from Liverpool is a more realistic option in terms of finances, but not enough known as to whether he would fit into the Dyche mould/framework.

I just said Jordan kept him quiet, you basically confirmed it was due to Walcott not being fully fit due to returning from injury.UpTheBeehole wrote:What did I confirm?

'What has Theo actually done apart from grow a beard?'
Erm, fall over a lot, whilst earning more money than a third World country.

Re: Theo Walcott
Sounds like he will be a great signing for Burnley - just comparing all the "he's no good" comments, with similar posts when we've signed Jack Cork, Steven Defour, Robbie Brady, etc.... etc.... etc....

Re: Theo Walcott
Not the KIND of player we need. We REALLY need a clone of Brady. What he offered suited our system to the ground. Even when he frustrated (Brady) he always popped up with a `moment`. Our `dip` has coincided with Brady`s absence as has Hendrick`s. This may well be ridiculous, but I would rather sign Jota from Birmingham (pulling a similar player to Brady out of the air). Yeah, yeah, yeah he isn`t pulling up any trees but was Brady when we signed him???
