Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
I can't be the only Trekkie on here.
Anyone else started watching the new Star Trek series yet?
Watched the first episode earlier today and just about to watch the 2nd one.
I'm intrigued enough to keep going so far.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
Enjoyed it, watched both episodes.
Bit odd that it's apparently set 10 years before the original show and yet looks as slick and technogically advanced as the JJ Abrams films, but I can't say I mind.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
Litterally finished the first episode minuites ago. I'm going to give it a few more episodes (handy it ends on a cliff hanger).
As a TNG child there's a lot of details that grate a little; it's too dark (literally in luminosity), costumes are wrong, Klingons look weird, tech feels newer but the setting is older. However I think you've got to put that down to moving with the times.
What will keep me coming back is expanding the lore of the races and decent political drama on a galaxy wide level. So fingers crossed...

Re: Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
The original Klingons in TOS looked almost human, I'm thinking it was in the Tribble episode?
TNG was also the first series I really remember getting hooked into.
Voyager is my next favourite.
Currently working my way through Enterprise on Netflix because I've never really bothered with it before and decided recently to try it.

A very good first two episodes. Enjoyed them more than any other first two from t'other series'.

Got to be Tribbles in it or it can't be Star Trek.Sidney1st wrote:The original Klingons in TOS looked almost human, I'm thinking it was in the Tribble episode?

Just watched EP 1
Hmm 10 years before Kirk & Spock yet the ship has a Captains ready room, one reason I hate prequels.
Didn't like the mutiny from No 1 especially as they have worked together for so long, but may come clearer in EP2

Re: Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
Saw 2 episodes plus the 'after show'.
I can't tell you anything meaningful about any of the previous series because 'It's not real' but I do enjoy watching them.
This was okay and I look forward to watching some more.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
I've just googled what 'TOS' stands for
I'm glad Discovery isn't anything like that was, some episodes made Doctor Who appealing back then.

You're thinking of BSG. Star Trek is the one where Picard got turned into a Cylon.

Re: Star Trek Discovery - on Netflix
hate the jj abrams style direction - wonky camera angles and lens glare.
don't like the design. ultra-tech orientated - completely out of sync with the main canon.
but i can see why they've gone that way. it was probably the only way they could get a network interested after the shambles that was 'enterprise'.
the war context is always good for story-lines and the first two eps made a decent prelude.
it has legs but i'd watch it anyway. if i was on mastermind a star trek category would probably be my specialised subject.

Episode 3 was interesting, but has yet again left me with more questions...
I'm going to keep going with this series, I need to know how it's going to end.

Seen the first four episodes of The Orville, so far. Hilarious send up of Star Trek.
One to watch, for sure.

Seasons finished.
It's a bit of a mixed bag but overall quite watchable. Enjoy the next 8 or 9
