Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
The photograph below is believed to be of an ex-Clarets game (probably in the 1960s). I've identified, I think, two of them but don't know any others. Any clues from anyone?

Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
The ones we've got are Reg Kirkham (1st Burnley player from left on back row) and Colin McDonald next to him.
Second Burnley player from left on front row looks a bit like Warren Joyce so it is potentially his dad Walter?

Looked again and isn't, just has a likeness for Warren. And I think Walter would have been younger at the time of this pic.Frenchclaret wrote:No - nothing like Walter Joyce

I swear the one with the ball looks like a 16 year old Steve Kindon.

2nd left front row.
Can't remember his name, but I think he became a milkman who was also a member of Nelson Golf Club.

Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
Tony....Im pretty sure second from the right back row is Don Bramley from Accy. (Though I'm not certain)
Don sadly passed away a couple of months ago.
Played for us, Stanley and West Ham. Very well known in football circles round Accrington.
Think Barry Kilby would have known him well.
If you Google his name, there's a tribute from the Accy Observer, plus photos.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Barry went to Dons funeral.ClaretTony wrote:Not a name I know but from the pics it looks very likely it's him
His and Dons paths would often have crossed in non league footie.
Plus his grandad Charlie's involvement with Stanley.

Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
No, the Billy White in the photo is the one that was understudy to Jimmy Mac for several seasons.
He was a good player in his own right but never stood a chance with Mac around. First time I saw him play was at Peel Park Accrington when we 'opened' their new floodlights.

Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
Aye, piston, you could be right.......That was the reason for the question mark in the line-up.
I'm certain Roy played for the ex-clarets in the mid to late 60's when that photo was taken. Another missing from the photo is Tommy Willighan who also played at that time, but it's certainly not him.

Heard plenty of stories from the old man, yeah was near enough a full service great send off for him ex Stanley players who he had coached helped carry him down the isle. Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
agree PB not Holden but McDonald is there so it puts the pic in the 50's as he was here until 1961 but out of action really after 1959 when he broke his leg.
Given Jock Winton is at the end on our right the Pic is in the mid 50's I would guess.

The guy second right is mike hennigan played with Nelson in the Lancashire Combination early sixtys, I know played in same team,
Bernard Sheridan was team coach

Yes it looks like Bill. Always remember after walking his daughter home and sitting down for a cup of coffee; he was always happy and smiling, almost your stereotypical gentle giant. Too young to have have seen him play but my Dad says he was unlucky to have been at the club when we had a plethora of good strikers.ClaretPope wrote:Back row, third from right, Bill Dodd.
Scored a hat-trick in the central league against Rovers so must have been good because the reserve team was pretty decent in those days.

Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
CT says in the OP he believes it to be an ex-Clarets match, so possibly early 60s. The shorts are rolled up high which wasn't the fashion in the 50s either. Alex Elders were always rolled up the highest. Colin Mac does look slightly older than his playing days.mdd2 wrote:agree PB not Holden but McDonald is there so it puts the pic in the 50's as he was here until 1961 but out of action really after 1959 when he broke his leg.

Re: Can anyone name any of these ex-Clarets
Both Winton and Mc Donald I believe had left the club by then. Jock went to Villa around 1959 if indeed that pic has him on it which I think it does. Also having checked Jock left in Jan 1959 and Colin broke his leg March 17th 1959 so the pic has to be before 1959.
