Palace match observations

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sat Jan 13, 2018 3:51 pm

Half time. Palace are running us ragged. Sako looks a completely different player.

Hendricks having another poor game. Going forward looks out of ideas. At the back nearly cost us a second.

Tarks looks surprisingly shaky.

Nobody seems to be showing for the ball.

Palace fans are very good. Very loud. Although Burnley are making a bit of noise in return.

Dreadful from us so far. Bardsley and Hendrick not turned up at all, awful.

Get Lowton and N’Koudou on and go 4-4-2, Barnes and Vokes up top.

Not sure why Hendrick being singled out. Palace are doing us out wide where Sakho, Van Arnholdt and to a lesser extent Zaha are having a field day. We are a low scoring team and it’s always bad news when we go behind. Keep the faith. No doubt we will see Nkoudou if stays this way.

we are getting out muscled in every part of the pitch.
Tarks all over the place and both full backs look shaky.

On the plus side surely we can`t play any worse.

On the negative side we have not won in 48 games under Dyche in this league when we have gone behind !

Observations... both the weak links can be seen a mile off.

Playing our strongest available 11 when possible is needed, but I understand the loyalty and squad harmony type decision to continue with the both of them.

Possibly the worst 45 mins of SDs tenure so far.

Bevause he is one of our most expensive players ever and the most expensive on the pitch. And he is offering zero. In pretty much every game too not just today.

Does he score? Not often
Does he assist? See above
Does he win the ball? Not really
Does he dictate the game? See above

If anyone can explain what he is bringing to the team I take my hat off to you.

We are playing well and are in a great position. But Hendrick doesnt really offer anything for me.

Don't like saying it but it's the truth. Probably our worst away performance of the season. Haven't seen our central defenders bullied like they were in the first half by anyone. If they do a re-make of the Invisible Man then surely Jeff Hendrick has a chance of the role. Was hoping for more from GKN.
2nd half was better but still disappointing. Steven de Where was he? Did anyone have a good game? No more points till Feb 24th. Hope I'm wrong.

And we still deserved a draw over 90 mins. Wow just shows how far we have come in the last few years.

Apart from when we went on a 23 match unbeaten run of games.

I think we also went behind in the game at Hull under Laws where we won 4-1 (our only away win that season and with it 75% of our away points!!!)

Under Mr Dyche you mean.

The tactics and loyalty don't add up to being able to creating plenty of chances to come from behind, but in the same way, we rarely get beaten when leading die to the same tactics.

Can't have it both ways I'm affraid

I thought Taylor had a good game. Having said that, if you could offer me a starting four of Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee and Ward next week, I'd be delighted. We desperately miss the old guard.

There have been a lot of fingers pointed at individuals today. Some have been off for a game or two and some had an off day but my biggest concern was the slow start. We never got out of the blocks for 30mins, in a game we should have been fired up for. Firstly because of our recent poor points return and secondly because they were so short handed with injuries.
The Spurs game was similar although they were quality. Palace were not we just made them look decent.

Except for his header back to Pope which, were it not for Ben Mee, would've resulted in a goal?
