Re: Aaron Lennon
What a great signing this will be. Still has 3-4 good seasons left in him and will be fantastic to see him ripping up defenders dressed in our famous claret and blue. Just a sign of how far we’ve come, a couple of seasons or even last season, he would probably have gone anywhere but Burnley. Remember the guy from Boro last season who chose Championship over us or even the beginning of this season, a forest player who chose Boro over us. Things are beginning to change.
Re: Aaron Lennon
I saw this too, but it does look as though the medical has already taken place. Would be odd to see him spend the morning where the medical takes place if terms were not yet agreed.Reecey1987 wrote:Mirror are reporting the mkve has been held up 1 or 2 issues regarding contract need sorting before he has his medical
Re: Aaron Lennon
Sky showed him turning up for the medical this morning.
All the money side of it has already been agreed....Mirror seem to be making stuff up.

length of the contract was a sticking point so the medical may have had some effect on that.

SSN have shown him arriving for his medical and they've now shown him leaving the building.

He hasn't signed until he signs but the very fact that he's had a medical with us this morning suggests he's not waiting for Newcastle.

If only players had proper medicals in the days when we signed Joe Gallagher from West Ham!

I'm sure City and West Ham feel the same when they signed Gundogan and Carroll respectively.

I saw the video of Walters and his medical. As well as all the medical tests do they do such basic things as actually get them out on a pitch and make them run or kick a ball? If they'd done that with Joe Gallagher we surely wouldn't have signed him - he ran with a limp.

I'd be surprised if he didn't start on the bench but once he's taken time to bed in and understand the framework I'd expect him to be challenging Arfield for a berth in the starting line up.BOYSIE31 wrote:Only be a bench player anyway - got to have the trusted shape before quality going foward

So the guy talking to him in Costa coffee an hour before he'd even finished his medical was talking nonsense?
Not surprised though, the amount of people I spike to you from 17:00 Friday, who happened to know Lennon's uncle was unbeleivable.
They all received texts off him too, he must of text half of Lancashire the news....

Re: Aaron Lennon
A number of things with Joe Gallagher's medical - it was all done by Dr Iven who, to be honest, completely ballsed it up. But West Ham cleverly withheld some medical information from us. That couldn't happen now. When Bond saw him he tried to get the deal cancelled. He had an independent medical test and they passed him fit as incredible as that might sound.Hipper wrote:I saw the video of Walters and his medical. Top bloke was Joe, but the first time I saw him was in the Isle of Man. Instantly recognising him as he walked across the pitch, I said that he wouldn't be playing because he clearly had an injury and was limping quite badly. I didn't realise that's how he was all the time.

Re: Aaron Lennon
Joe Gallagher stopped in the Sparrow Hawk when he signed - with Alan Taylor. I was working behind the bar at the time.
Saw him limping up the stairs to his room a few times.
He got a 4 year contract - wow !
Played a few games in the first season...then missed most of the next 2 years and surprisingly came back to play a few games in his last year with us.
And people complain at our lack of options now !!

Burnley remain confident of signing Aaron Lennon, but deal won't be happening today. A few complications but nothing that will scupper the move

Joe Gallagher now that was a strange case to see someone limp his way around the pitch as quick as he was able, from memory I think he got away with it more often then not. Amazing to think he played 41 games like that and was hardly caught out.TVC15 wrote:Joe Gallagher stopped in the Sparrow Hawk when he signed - with Alan Taylor. Re: Aaron Lennon
If wages are the sticking point I hope we walk away
As good as he maybe was, he is past his prime with no sell on value - I would guess he is currently earning more than any of the current squad
We are doing really well this season and therefore should be able to attract younger players for the future rather than people in the 30's

Imagine signing a 6ft plus striker who's feet don't leave the ground when he attempts to jump , with strapped up hamstrings to hold him together.
great hat trick against the mighty PNE though.

It will be announced before the team’s break in Portugal but only when the media department are ready. We all know that’s how it has become

Re: Aaron Lennon
Terms have been agreed both with the player and the agent. It is just some clause in the contract, I believe, that needs a slight alteration and that shouldn't cause any problems.jojomk1 wrote:If wages are the sticking point I hope we walk away

We can attract younger players, but we can now also attract players with 21 England caps at a still relative young age of 30. I think he'll be an outstanding signing.
