James Taylor
Heads up for a mini UK tour on 9th July in M/c, 10th in Glasgow and 12th in Leeds.
He's bringing Bonnie Raitt with him too. They're on pre-sale from today and general sale
on 16th Feb.
We've got ours - I've always wanted to see him and this is a very rare opportunity. With a
back catalogue like his, it promises to be a stonking night.
Link to his website for those interested.

Re: James Taylor
The last concert in Leeds was brilliant. At the interval he sat on edge of stage to chat to people who came to him.

"Live At The Troubadour" with Carole King is worth getting hold of if anyone has not heard it (also a TV prog about it).

Years later when 'The Troubadour' was mentioned to him he had no idea that he'd performed there so many times. Certainly lived life to the full.HunterST_BFC wrote:Thanks for the heads up!

A must see act but last time we caught him it was a very short night, by modern standards.

Re: James Taylor
I heard on the radio yesterday that Paul Simon is going to knock it on the head and has announced a ‘retirement tour’ finishing this July in Hyde Park.. James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt x were announced as support..
That looks a pretty good line up to me.. thing is last time I went to Hyde Park for a big show it was Bruce S. and he brought Paul McCartney on to help him with the encore and the ‘authorities’ pulled the plug on the music, because 6 residents in Mayfair complained that their dinner parties were being ruined by ‘loud music’.
I said I would never go there again.

Who was the singer he was once married to?
She sang You're so vain which was I think aimed at Warren Beatty?
Just remembered it was Carly Simon

Sunday 15 July, British Summer Time, Hyde Park: Paul Simon "Homeward Bound The Farewell Performance." I've got my tickets. Gates open 2pm. I doubt Paul Simon will still be on stage after 10pm - love it if he is, of course.hampsteadclaret wrote:I heard on the radio yesterday that Paul Simon is going to knock it on the head and has announced a ‘retirement tour’ finishing this July in Hyde Park.. Also got tickets for Sunday 8th, Eric Clapton plus Santana, Steve Winwood - gates open 1pm.
What's that? World Cup final ko at 4pm on 15th July?

Yep I made that. However the Byrds stole the show at the end along with Buffy St Marie during the day.Darnhill Claret wrote:Hitch-hiked from Warrington to Lincoln to see him headline the Festival in 1971.

Re: James Taylor
£90 for the front seats! I'm sure that's at least 60% up on just a few years ago when he played Manchester Arena. He's worth it though, compared to most modern bands.

The Bridgewater Hall is a great venue for someone like James Taylor, the Manchester Arena isn't intimate enough for him.corporal jones wrote:been a fan for years-saw him in manchester a few yrs back-think he needs smaller venues but hey ho. the website has tutorials for some of his biggest hits for the guitarists out there.

Re: James Taylor
Buffy St Marie! Now there's a blast from the past, remarkable voice. Always remember Soldier Blue, a beautiful song that was the theme tune to one of the (up to then) most graphically violent films ever made. The massacre at the Indian camp almost made me cry considering that it was a real historical event. I think it was known as the Washita River massacre. The film however did make out that the Indians were mainly women, children and elderly whereas historical accounts suggest that there were many Indian warriors and that several Soldiers were also killed. However, given that, as they say, the winners write the history books, who knows.ClaretLoup wrote:Yep I made that.
