Nkoudo
Nkoudo
Probably reading too much in to it, but noticed at half time, and at break out of pre game warm up that Nkoudo trained alone with the trainer as opposed to with the other subs. Any one know of a rift or undercurrent going on? may explain him not getting any game time either.

Thought he showed more skill in the halftime kick about than most of our 1st X1 , painfull to see that quality on the bench

Panic signing, brought in as an extra body only, nothing more, nothing less, will be used as the last option only IMO.

You mean we were panicking that the Lennon deal wouldn’t come off ? Imagine panicking over not signing Aaron Lennon. Wow.MACCA wrote:Panic signing, brought in as an extra body only, nothing more, nothing less, will be used as the last option only IMO.

I think we didnt want to risk Lennon falling through again, and if i remember rightly Arfield was also injured, so i think it was a case of anybody.SkiptonClaret wrote:You mean we were panicking that the Lennon deal wouldn’t come off ? Imagine panicking over not signing
Aaron Lennon. Wow.
Ashley Barnes started 2 games on the left wing remember,

Another bizarre loan signing. If a 12 million pound signing who has played regularly for Marseille and is now at Spurs can’t get on today for Hendrick or Lennon then we may as well send him back tonight.

Hold my hands up yes it did but if arfield had played like he has since he's been here this board would be in meltdown.. My bet is he plays because he can defend better than Nkoudo..tim_noone wrote:His cross led to our goal ....that said not at his best. todays game was crying out for vokes.

Not at all, Lennon was always coming in this last window. But don't let that get in the way of your Dyche attack. Started in October 2012 didn't it? He’s played for Charlton there plus would offer something different to what our current ‘number 10’ offers attacking wise.ClaretTony wrote:And could you give us some reasoning for that? What success has JBG had in that role?

Re: Nkoudo
Spoke to a friend of mine at Charlton who said he very occasionally played there for them but didn't play well when he did. Said he was far better in the wide position. As it happens I thought he had a disappointing game today but the last thing I would want to do is move a player out of a position in which he's excelled for much of the season.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:He’s played for Charlton there plus would offer something different to what our current ‘number 10’ offers attacking wise.
Re: Nkoudo
To be honest all this number 10 talk, I don't think thats the instruction, I think its more a 4-5-1 and rotate the link man to back up the striker, or even go as far as 4-2-3-1

Re: Nkoudo
Agree he is having a fantastic season on the wing however can see why fans are looking for someone like him to try the position behind the striker as anyone can see Hendrick in that role is just not working.ClaretTony wrote:Spoke to a friend of mine at Charlton who said he very occasionally played there for them but didn't play well when he did. Re: Nkoudo
Lennon might look better if played in his natural position instead of stuck out on the left where he looks lost.

Go on........ tell me that YOU think Hendrick will make a number 10 !?!?
Re: Nkoudo
I thought Lennon's Volley today was fantastic. The shape and composure when he struck it, I thought it was in and deserved to be in. Apart from Pope's save after to be fair, probably the best play from both side in the match, that volley was the second best part of the match for me.

Re: Nkoudo
I agree JBG has been great this season, but both he and Lennon were poor today. With the total lack of creativity on display, it would have been the perfect opportunity to give Nkoudo a run for at least the last half hour.
Re: Nkoudo
Has Wells not played number 10, if your going to call the instruction that?
Re: Nkoudo
Lennon is a right winger. Nkoudou is a left winger. And I refuse to believe that JBG could be any more ineffectual at 10 than Hendrick. Even today, against a team as woeful as Southampton, he manages to be so bad in possession

I take it you didn't see his cross that led to the goal then?Andreshotboots wrote:Lennon has been awful in every game and should have been replaced after 60 minutes today
I'm sick of seeing all the ******** on here about how crap we are playing. We're getting in good positions and not testing the keeper - that's not the same as playing shite. Southampton looked like they could play til Christmas and not score. Without the assist from Madely then they're not scoring there - we're breaking and maybe scoring again.
Re: Nkoudo
Lennon was poor today because he was played on the opposite wing to that that he’s played on for virtually his entire career.

Today we played a very poor team. We were poor too but went in front. Bad luck the ball hit the referee but it shouldn't have come to that. When we got the corner we should have taken a short one and messed about. Got another. We really are a naive team. Even after the referees intervention a foul would have been in order
But no. So naive.

Re: Nkoudo
Or the weak headers that could have ended differently - or the header put just wide - or the block from Ward from the shot after their corner which looked like it'd rifle in.Andreshotboots wrote:I take it you didn't see the world class save where Pope tipped it onto the post then?
Saints were naff.
Re: Nkoudo
I may have got this wrong as only seen it live, but it wasn't the ball hitting the ref, it was him blocking/obstructing Westwood getting to their advancing midfielder after being put through.Stayingup wrote:Well he hasn't played there so we don't know. But what success has Hendrick had?

What better engine than Cork?
Problem with Hendrick is now twofold. Out of position and confidence. Sean Dyche has a problem here. It's of his own making really. Hendrick should not be playing as a number 10. Can Dyche re-biuild his confidence?

Sorry but although I like cork when in possession no one runs non stop like Hendrick does
Hendricks problem latley is his attacking play but when wood comes back hopefully we'll see a difference with more movement overall upfront

He played 28 times for a mid table Marseille. Just because Spurs paid 12 million for him doesnt make him a good player.
Ive seen nothing to suggest he is and neither have our or spurs manager otherwise he would be playing.

Re: Nkoudo
I go week in week out and never moan about much but to be fair reading the comments on this thread I agree with quite a few of the comments that some may say are negative but after watching is it 13 or 14 home games and scoring 10 goals at home we have a serious problem . I cheer and clap most of the time but quite a few games I have sat there and thought this is bloody boring . Yes we are having a great season and yes I see we are missing some great players at the moment who are out but I have my own thoughts rightly or wrongly and do agree with a few that Hendrick is like a duck out of water sat behind any of our centre forwards it just hasn't worked at all in the games I have watched at home (all of them) .
Re: Nkoudo
Jeff Hendrick was put in the number 10 position without having any success in that role also the position seems alien to him (Not totally his fault). The experiment has been long standing and his form and confidence has ebbed away to almost zilch. Sometimes you need to try something to change the monotony and if that doesn't work any better or dare I say it is worse then change it back or to something else.ClaretTony wrote:And could yfou give us some reasoning for that? What success has JBG had in that role?
Also Gudmondson may not have had any real success in that role for another team. That said it doesn't mean he can't play it, reasons could be numerous ie poor team with poor players around you. Style and/or formation that team plays with and what sort of role you are asked to provide in that position. Something needs to be different because the current one has hit a railroad.
