What’s he up to?
I’ve just noticed that Mr Turner has created a company under that name, with him as the sole Director. Upon searching his name it appears he has done the same for a number of other football clubs, all Premier League sides apart from Leeds United. Future revenue from clubs buying those names from him?

I would suggest he's noticed that a number of clubs have different names (we're Burnley football and athletic ltd or similar) and is trying to hoover up company names either in the hope that the actual clubs will pay for them or some kind of scam.

Good spot....weird. Maybe someone could go and knock on the door of 102 Leyland Road in Burnley as I notice that this is the address of his company "Man City Ltd" ?

Scam as in ‘I am a director of Burnley Football Club.....’?
I was just seeing if our accounts had been released yet (another few weeks it seems as they have to be in by 31/3), and spotted a company name I hadn’t before.

Yeah, we know. Just a bit weird what he appears to be doing. Well, questionable anyway in terms of his motives? I mean, why would you bother spending the time unles you felt you had something to gain from doing so?

Several potential scams really. Asking for money for trials from gullible wannabe footballers. Duping gullible wannabe investors... take your pick. It is hard to see how it would be legit though, i'll say that

Look forward to someone reporting back from 102 Leyland Road ...though it's probably just an accountant's office or some such. I'd be inclined to turn up in a Man City kit and ask for my wages.

The main company is now Burnley FC Holdings Limited and if anyone has shares it is in this company. Two other companies, Burnley Football & Athletic Company Limited and Longside Properties are now wholly owned by Burnley FC Holdings Limited.

I’ve purposely posted a picture of a number of houses, but was just making sure anyone not living in Burnley knows that it’s a residential street.

There are rules in place to stop this kind of thing, either on the basis of the name being "too like" another or it being misleading as to its activities. I suspect it just hasn't been noticed yet as I'd expect clubs like Man City and Spurs to be pretty hot at protecting their IP and I know Man Utd are.

Apparently it's very easy to set up a company on the official website (companies house or whatever) even if you are disqualified from doing so.
The system not able to spot illegal activity.

You can set up a company under any name at all, as long as it isn't taken. For example, "The Burnley Football and Athletics Company" would be available. Then the company who you are copying can take action to have the name changed if it's likely to cause confusion.
If you start trying to trade under that name, then it becomes a different matter, especially if you mispresent yourself as being the original company - if this Nicholas Turner started sending out invoices or making purchases on the basis that he was BFC, then he could be sued or prosecuted and struck off from being a director.

Maybe he is a 'as the best supported team in the land, we belong in the Premier League' massively frustrated Weeds United fan and this is some hare brained scheme to create a rival Premier League with Leeds United in it.....

As soon as he starts claiming "official merchandise of Burnley Football Club" and the club get to hear about it, he'll be closed down. It's like setting up a company called Ronald McDonald Ltd. and opening a burger van - you can't get away with pretending to be someone you aren't.

Owen Coyle has proved otherwise, pretending to be a football manager.
