Ben Mee's curse appears to be, that he can't play alongside Ben Mee

Re: England squad to be announced at 2 p.m. today
I suspect he already knows that he would have to significantly improve his distribution. He's a great defender, but really not very comfortable on the ball. This is one of the problems we have when Long plays alongside him, since neither of them offer much in terms of bringing the ball out of defence.ZizkovClaret wrote:Ben Mee must wonder what he has to do

Here's the most sensible post I've seen on the BBC website for a while.................
"In the England squad should be James Tarkowski, Nick Pope, Ben Mee and Ashley Barnes. Burnley are in seventh position in the Premier League because they have so many good players.

If Pope and Tarkowski make debuts in coming games then Burnley will have supplied more England players in past year than Arsenal/Chelsea combined (also Heaton, Keane, Cork)

How does Alfie Mawson get in ahead of Mee? Swansea have conceded 42 goals to our 26 - Mee and Mawson integral to both teams.

So just to confirm, Hart will play, along with one of the other regulars and Pope will be sat on the bench...
Re: Tarky & Pope
An amazing achievement for both. Well done. Well done Dyche. Well done Burnley Football Club.
Re: Tarky & Pope
He's essentially just said that he's there so they can have a look at him, in case one of the more senior goalkeepers becomes unavailable between now and the end of the season.
Re: England squad to be announced at 2 p.m. today
It's a joke. What does he not know about them three already.Sidney1st wrote:Just seen your comment on the BBC site
It says to me that Southgate is taking them 3 because they have the experience.
That will be his line with the final squad.
Re: Tarky & Pope
Be interesting to see if he plays both Tarks and Pope.
Would have thought he'd give both a chance to play or come on for at least one of the games.
Not much point in selecting them if he doesn't.

Re: England squad to be announced at 2 p.m. today
Southgate pretty much just said (my opinion) that unless one of Hart, Butland or Pickford get injured, Pope won`t be going to the World Cup. The question of "Why Pope?" was ridiculous
The clown of an anchor on Sky Sports News just strongly suggested that Southgate doesn`t consider Tarkowski an option for the World Cup but for "beyond the summer". Idiot. I have missed Kirsty Gallacher though

Well done guys.
Mee unlucky but the system not just him is the constant. He has done very well and reads the game to international class, but distribution and pace limit him. He is a top half PL player on merit though so well done him too (and Lowts).

Apparently we have 3 Burnley players in the squad, can someone help?
Football
"With Nick Pope his form has been excellent. It's great credit to Sean Dyche that we have got three Burnely players in our squad.
"We need to find out a bit more about them because if we lose one of our more experienced players then we will need them to fill the void, but Nick's form has warranted his place in the squad."
