O/T For those wanting to go to Russia this summer

Post by PhilC » Tue Mar 20, 2018 7:52 pm

Just a heads up that I have been informed by our Russian offices at work that the visa process to enter Russia is now going to take twice as long for British Citizens.

It's not the most friendliest of service at the best of times, but I can imagine the fun they will now have rejecting applicants for the most minor of issues on the form.

If you are planning on going for a holiday, or watching 3 games of football, get your applications in asap.

Would anyone actually want to go there? Seems you would be taking your life in your hands by doing so. Each to their own. Hope the stadiums are empty.

Might be best if we have no players picked for the trip.

Most likely, the people thinking of going to the World Cup won't be able to read.

I think your Russian offices are having a laugh with you!

There will be visa-free entry to Russia for all fans attending the World Cup. When you buy your match tickets from FIFA they assign you a fan number which allows you to enter both the country and match stadium without a visa.

You need your head testing if you go to the World Cup this year!

Russian Offices definitly not having a laugh.

Like i said, for those wanting or needing a visa for a trip to Russia, expect to wait longer than usual.

This doesn't make good reading, despite the opening paragraph claiming that Russia is a
" Fascinating and friendly country, . . . . . . "

Think I'll give it a miss this time.

If the masked hoolies wielding baseball bats don't get you, then the plutonium laced cocktails almost certainly will. I'll watch on tele ta!

I’ve not been to Russia for 14 years now. I got fed up with it back then and if anything it’s now a lot worse. I get them to visit me, or meet the Russia team we have in Turkey. It actually works out cheaper as well. The hotels are a third of the price in Istanbul compred to Moscow. Actually that’s not true. A hotel where you feel safe, without various people banging on your door offering services all night are a third cheaper in Istanbul. Whilst I’m sure 99% of people in Russia this summer will have a great time, I’m not sure entering a lottery where you could be the 1% is a good idea. Whilst I’d normally say that “the locals are really friendly” for most countries, I find the Russians to be mostly objectionable. You’d have more fun on a night out with Ashley Cole.

If the Russians that I have come across, on various holidays abroad, are anything to go by
then I would regard them as the most objectionable race I have ever come across, and
that's saying something.

PS The ladies are very often very nice though. 8-)

I dont know what all the fuss is about. They had this for Brazil, South Africa, Ukraine, even Germany.

The only ones that had serious disorder were France 98, France 2016 and Holland & Belgium 2000. And from first hand experience France 2016 in the main you only got bother if you looked for it!

In the main England fans are reaping what was sowed in the 80s and 90s - and some still try to live up to it. Problem is most of these Europeans (not just Russians - Germans, Dutch, Polish etc) don't give a **** and dont have the same risks or repercussions. Look at Hannover. Look at The Russians, Croats, etc from 2016.

Pitch invade with a corner flag at West Ham and you get a life ban!
