Once - when we lost 0-6 at home to Man City. Coming three days after the 0-5 defeat to Gillingham, I genuinely thought the club was ****** and we were heading for thg fourth tier again.

Nearly cried at a rugby game once - the Challenge Cup Final, when Danny Jones' widow was singing Abide With Me and a picture of Danny and the twin babies came up on the screen.

Never cried about the football, though. Back in the eighties watching Burnley, it was laugh or cry - and I chose to laugh. Sardonically.

I honestly can't remember, but I was in tears as I headed along Brunshaw Road. I couldn't believe what I'd just witnessed. Stan Ternent offered his resignation after that match, so I wasn't alone in thinking we were up Sh!t Creek.

Nothing gets on my threepennies more that these knobheads you see on TV shoving their fingers in their eyes so that they can be seen crying when their team has been relegated.

Twice but not in the ground on way home. First time after getting knocked out of the Fairs Cup then after Orient game on a moor some tears of joy and some tears of anger for actually finding ourselves in that position

After the Orient game.
So many emotions going on that day, sheer relief at the end, long before the joy kicked in.
P.S. real men don't mind crying.

Crying over a football match? Some people need to take a hard look at themselves. Sad. I'll never shed a tear over Burnley Football Club, there are bigger things to cry about.

When Wade scored at Wembley.

I first went on in 1985. I never thought i’d see us in the top flight, i’d done 70 odd grounds with my Dad who was sat next to me and my Grandad (his Dad) had died that week.

Real men cry.

In the Coyle promotion season.

When we played Spurs at home my mate next to me jumped to celebrate our 3rd just after me and uppercutted me in the nose.

If we had gone through then the 2 black eyes for a week afterwards would have been worth it.....

Final whistle in 2009.
I was sitting with my son but the lad in front of us, with his wife and little girl, had been talking to us all match.
Final whistle he turned round and saw me and my son hugging each other and having a little tearful moment. This in turn set him, then his wife and then his little girl off. We let em all in on our hug.
Burnley fans, bunch of soft lads.

It is possible that people cry over football AND the "bigger things" you refer to? I would guess that their lack of emotional repression would make them more likely to cry over these "bigger things". Anyway, you carry on hanging around a forum of obsessives metaphorically shaking your head when their behaviour is, well...obsessive. Remind me, who is the well adjusted one?

I cried when England got knocked out of Euro 96 on penalties.

Granted I wasn't at the match, I was 10 years old watching it on telly and it was way past my bedtime.

Cried like a baby at the full time whistle at the Wembley play off final.

Started watching burnley before I can remember but it was around 1991. Grew up in Blackburn school catchment area. Never thought we would get to the prem. My brother has had the same experience as me. Constant **** taking by rovers fans. The emotion got the better of me and I am not ashamed of that. Few things are as important to me as the clarets

No. The most emotional I got was when Robbie scored v Manure. We had arrived.

My son cries just about everytime the opposition scores a late goal. WE will be at the Emirates in May and there will be no tears

Apart from that Orient tears of relief.

Seriously though, I last time I cried at Turf Moor was in 1997(ish). I think it was against Grimsby Town. We won a throw-in in front of the away dugout, (they were on opposite sides back then) and I think it was Paul Smith who took it. He threw it towards Gerry Harrison who controlled the ball OK but a defender (I'd love to remember who it was) ran up to him from behind and nudged the ball back out of play. The ball hit the wall of the Bob Lord Stand and then rolled down the touchline for about 5 yards. A ballboy, dressed in a black or possibly a navy blue tracksuit picked it up and threw it back to Smith with an underarm throw. Well... I was in tears.

Football supporting is all about emotional involvement. Emotional release often involves tears, whether they be tears of despair or tears of joy.

If you have never teared up for anything less than the "bigger things" I pity you!

How well Burnley FC are doing has a great deal of influence on my overall emotional well-being but I have never for a moment wanted to cry because of a bad result and really don't get it when you see people, usually on Sky, doing so. My emotional default state when things go badly for us is anger, petulance and immense frustration at how unfair life is. The Sky cameras might pick me out ranting and raving but definitely not crying.
I think I might have teared up a bit at the final whistle at Wembley in 2009 though.
