Andre Gray to Cardiff
Cardiff will be signing Gray if they get promoted.
He did his job for us but just seems like another player who got too big for Burnley and now has the Burnley curse.

Back in the Championship, in 19-20, he'll start scoring again.

I hope we put a sell on clause in the transfer to Watford.
But probably not

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
It was good while it lasted....£9 million purchase for an unknown was a Big Risk for Burnley and For SD thankfully it all fell into place...ings left a sinking ship Andre helped us float back to the top with a nice profit on him and big bucks from the promotion.it could have gone wrong"were Burnley" but it didn't,utc!

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
We made around £12 million from his transfer, i believe.
Bought for £6.5 mil, sold for £18.5 mil, or so.
We really do seem to have the magic touch with players lately, financially wise.
Long may it continue.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
My understanding was we eventually paid out getting on for £9m for him because we had to fork out for going up and staying up, and I think there's similar bonuses making up the £18.5m so given the fact that he's been crap at Watford we probably won't see the whole lot. I could be wrong, though.ElectroClaret wrote:We made around £12 million from his transfer, i believe.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
I remember trying to do the workings out based upon a Luton Town statement on their sell on fee, and I think I worked it out that we’d paid £5.7m up front guaranteed. We then had to pay a further £3m in total if we went up and then stayed up. We did both, so thought our total fee was about £8.7m, give or take a little?
I also recall a statement connected to BFC on Twitter saying that the fee will not get near £9m?
Either way, we made a lot of money on his sale, and regardless on his first touch travelling further than I go on holiday, he scored goals. Well worth what we paid.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Luton gave the whole thing away with the fee so we knew exactly what we'd paid for him. He scored a lot of goals for us in the promotion season, did well enough last season and we made a big profit on him. His first touch wasn't the best. Always remember it said about John Francis that he developed his pace so he'd have a chance of catching his first touch.Claretforever wrote:I remember trying to do the workings out based upon a Luton Town statement on their sell on fee, and I think I worked it out that we’d paid £5.7m up front guaranteed. Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Scored the goals that won us the league.
He moved on for a decent profit.
I wish him all the best apart from when he plays against us

Did well and scored the goals. But he’s one of those when he left you shrug your shoulders and say “who cares”. Some players go and you worry if we can get someone as good.
Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Did well for us but was far from a complete player. His first touch was not good at all. He will do ok in the Championship but not the PL. he's been a poor buy for Watford.
Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
He’ll be vying for a starting berth with about 10 other strikers if Warnock gets his way!

You couldn't fault him in our promotion season.
He fell short of being a 'legend', but a top, top player for us nonetheless.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
We definitely got a positive deal with Gray out and Wood in.
Looks to be really finishing the season strongly.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Nixon reported he will be offered to Cardiff should they be promoted.
He left us for much higher wages. I would be surprised if Cardiff match that or Gray accepts a pay cut to leave so early in his contract.

Cardiff spent a fortune last time in the prem, i don't think they would balk at Grays wages.Quickenthetempo wrote:Nixon reported he will be offered to Cardiff should they be promoted.

It would be a good move for Gray because Warnock is the sort of manager like Dyche that could get the best out of Gray.

He did a job for us,got us promotion then it went to his head,we picked Watford,s pocket....a bit of a sweet spot for Dyche for the way he was treated by Watford, which ever team he plays for in the Championship next season he will score a shed load of goals....a championship player at best who thought he was to good for us thanks Andre.....we don't miss you one jot though!

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
I hope he doesn't come back and bite us on the *rse.
I'm pleased as punch with what he did for us and for the deal we got with Watford, a real win/win all round.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
I don't understand the general haters of Gray on here, even when he was with us. He carried the rest of the team on his back for a large spell during the promotion season, did incredibly well for us and I wish him well.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
I seem to remember people saying that we had no chance of signing him when rumours started to appear. Arguing that he’d probably go to another team supposedly bigger or more ambitious than us.
The money, at the time, was more than I think people thought we were prepared to pay.
I think he was a big deal for Burnley. And in some ways was a statement of intent from the club.
Ings could have been a big loss, but in the end we never really missed him.
Gray was a very good player for us and a lot of our continued success is down to his good work.
It shows how far we have come in a very short space of time. That someone of his calibre, an 18m signing last summer would be considered a step down.
Bought at the right time.
Did the right job.
Sold at the right time.
A bit of excellent business from Burnley.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Why should we care. Served his purpose. Would not get in our team now. Does not possess premier league quality. We move on.
Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Bl00dy hell , he had three attempts at getting to Cardiff but ended up at Merthyr Tydfil.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Given that his goal gave us our first home victory over Rovers in decades he will always be warmly remembered by me, nevermind all his important other ones
Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Oh thanks. Why would we want him? Ian traylor has a much better first touch.......bfcjg wrote:Bl00dy hell , he had three attempts at getting to Cardiff but ended up at Merthyr Tydfil.

Re: Andre Gray to Cardiff
Absolute masterclass by BFC in looking like youre not keen at all to sell, but really sad that youre being pressured into it.
I think they'd have taken half of what they got.
I've no doubt at all the club were chuffed to see him go, and since then his achievemnets have probably been a fair reflection of his ability.
