Champions League goals:

Neymar + Ronaldinho + Ronaldo + Torres + Totti + Beckham = 111

Cristiano Ronaldo = 118

Incredible.

If you only counted Cristiano Ronaldo’s away goals in the Champions League, he’d *still* be the competition's fourth highest scorer of all-time, ahead of Zlatan, Henry and Shevchenko.

Lionel Messi:
Games - 48
Goals - 39

"Back to his best."

Cristiano Ronaldo:
Games - 41
Goals - 44

"Past his best."

On a similar theme and apologies if this has been posted previously, apparently since 1 January 2010, Lionel Messi has scored more goals for Barcelona than than the entire number of goals scored by Stoke City.

Both are truly incredible players, a gift for all football fans that they're playing in the same generation. I hope they both move to the PL in the summer along with Bale, f**k those Spanish clubs bring the power to the PL.

Good first half spoilt by the theatrics of Madrid. What an incredible dislikable team they are. Juventus could and should be in front. Just lacking that final ball.

Would love to see City absolutely destroy Madrid in the semis.

It's ok we've got martial, lacazette, giroud,Willian,Henderson,Murray, pogba. Don't need them we stockpiling quality otherwise.

The quality of the Champions League at this stage is great to watch. Even the gamesmanship moves up a notch. Barcelona are probably the best at that too although these two are good. The way they 'press' the ref together from the first minute is actually interesting to see.

Why is the greatest player always an attacker? Personally I'd nominate Franco baresi..

Ronaldo really is incredible - no doubt about it. However, I rank Messi as the best ever and I also think the Brazilian Ronaldo was a superb striker (and one of my favourite ever players) playing in a different era. There, I said it....

All about opinions.

He's the best of all time for me. He's just an incredible athlete and has absolutely every trait you need to be a top player in the modern game; pace, power, strength, technique and he's even good in the air! I genuinely think he'd be capable of playing in any position on the pitch (ok, maybe not goalkeeper!) due to those attributes.

Messi is brilliant, the original Ronaldo was incredible, Pele and Garrincha weren't bad... but this guy just seems to get better with each year and it's the fact he's still doing it against the best in the world that is the amazing thing. He's not wheeled out by Real against the bottom half of La Liga to score a hatful for the fans, he's still the main man in the Champions League and the best player in the world. Compare him to Rooney for example; Ronaldo is actually older than Rooney. No one can deny how good Rooney was for a good few years at United but he's been on the downward spiral for a few years now. The exact opposite of Ronaldo who just seems to get fitter and hungrier with each year. He's sublime and we're lucky to watch him in our lifetime.

There's no comparison between Barnes's overhead kick (safe) and Ronaldo's (potentially life threatening.)

Should have been disallowed. He almost kicked the defenders head off. Dangerous play, foot way too high with a defender that close.

I agree 100%. The only excuse might be that he was in front of the defender to an extent, but not really.

One rather significant name missing from your comparison list - Maradona. Despite the many unsavoury aspects of his character, he was the best I ever saw.
