Said who? The only 1% quote is from their Russian relative, Viktoria. So, no-one that matters in that context. You can't point to her quote and the apparent survival as evidence of changing stories.

I did produce a link to a chemical weapons expert explaining all that but I forgot, we don't do experts in this country.

Yes, the link was interesting reading, but nothing new to me I’m afraid - from looking at the expert you referenced I found it interesting from his LinkedIn profile that he has a similar track record and expertise to existing and past colleagues of mine.

You have to feel for Mr Skripal's cat and two guinea pigs in all of this. Very sad.

Well there is a shock.

It confirms the UK govt findings and its military grade nerve agent (whatever that means)

The international independent chemical watchdog (OPCW) has confirmed British findings on the substance
used in Salisbury. (BBC)

It’s no shock to identify the nerve agent and to corroborate the findings of the UK government. I see that the report identifies no source country, and that’s because they cannot demonstrate with any of the evidence that the nerve agent actually came from Russia. So, there’s still no “actual proof” that Russia did this, which is a shame, and I genuinely mean that. I don’t like the idea that an event like this can happen and we don’t have the ability to forensically prove what happened.

It’s OK though, because Boris knows for sure...

So its not Russia.

The only other theory is that its another state that produces Novichok type agents, which is very, very, very unlikely.

And even if it is (it isn't, but hey ho, lets pretend it isn't) either way its a state attack on this country using chemical weapons.

And there are (clearly btw) other sources that the the Govt are using for them to be sure it is Russia.

For me, the massive disinformation campaign being waged on RT and by thousands of bots on social media is proof enough of their culpability, because it fits in with what they do when they don't want people to find out the truth.

But its ok if you disagree, its a free country and different opinions are tolerated and encouraged. We wouldn't be who we are as a nation if we didn't do that.

Rick, the report identifies no source country because that was not in the remit of the inspectors, nor should it be.

There is also a classified version of the report which goes into more detail of the exact chemical nature of the agent.

Then you get all of the other classified intelligence from MI6 etc which Johnson has alluded to regarding the source laboratory.

I get that we don’t trust politicians, but with some things we have to accept that we are not entitled to see the classified evidence. It does not mean there is no evidence. I see no signs that the UK is hankering for war, quite the reverse.

Thanks CrosspoolClarets - that's the most reasoned explanation anyone has given.

My issue is still that most people want to blindly believe what some politicians say and many people on this thread just don't ask simple questions and understand simple logic sometimes, they'd prefer to draw some conclusions to be certainties when they are not, albeit likely but not certainties.

It’s time Alexi Sayle brought back his Balowski family characters- it seems that Russian comedians are all the rage!! I’m looking forward to seeing Ambassador Chuckles doing his next press conference from the Comedy Club. His monologue “The OPCW are poodles of the Western Imperial Dogs” is a scream.

In what world do the suspects in an attempt murder investigation get to dictate who does the investigation?

With just the British governments word it's not that amazing. But once 20-something countries were presented with the evidence and decided they were all convinced enough to join us in action against Russia, that should have been enough for all but the crackpots.
