Post by warksclaret » Fri Apr 13, 2018 8:58 pm

Question for the locals. Is there a decent Fish & Chip shop near the ground

No.

Park View chippy is closest, (just round the back of the Park View pub) and isn't too bad. Not what i'd call decent though. For that, you have to go to Nelson, and Holts on Scotland Rd. Now that IS decent.

I enjoyed Frydays in the town centre before the Stoke game.

Park view is great, but give yourself plenty of time.

Wasn’t Bellfields once ranked in the U.K. top ten?

The best piece of Fish I have had since moving back to the area in 2016 was from the chippy on Lowerhouse Lane next to the school. It was seriously good!

Havent been belfields for years. As a kid was great. But last few times i went it had gone seriously downhill. Went past tonight though and was packed. So must be doing something right.

Park views not bad. But I think its overrated. And the owners are miserable as sin and rude to staff and customers alike. But again always busy so...

Theres a little hut by marsden road thats meant to be excellent. But not close to the ground as such. Same way Towneley street used to be excellent but not been in ages.

On a tangent now but plenty of good ones in Colne. The one I almost always go to 'round here' (use the term loosely) is in whalley. Excellent chippy. They also do chinese and I try not to get fish and chips from a chinese. Cant comment on the chinese food but the fish and chips is as good as any seaside town.

Back in Burnley. Bannys not bad but expensive for what it is. For match day best bet probably is park view. Definitely beats the pies on the turf!

Park View is one of the best if not the best chippies I have been in.

I like the chippy on the front at Whitby but, on match days, it's the Park View for me... Puddin' Chips Peas 'n Gravy... part of my Match-Day ritual.
