If you could be a fly on the wall...

Post by WazzaClaret » Wed Apr 18, 2018 7:45 pm

At any historical event, what would you choose?

Got into this with a few mates before and it brought up some interesting choices.

Mine was Hitler being stuck in Berlin and seeing if he did die or in fact escape like the conspiracy theorists seem to think. If he did escape, see how he did it.

Good question. Probably a moment in WWII for me as well.

Alternatively, in the White House on 9/11 perhaps.

Interesting thread. Possibly when Kennedy considered whether to nuke Russia during the Cuban crisis.

I’d be in the Crow’s Nest onboard Titanic thirty minutes before unsinkable-unthinkable happened!

Honestly?

I'd be in the room when the Nazis decided to enact the final solution, just to see if there was any emotion at all in the decision.

... Watching 'The Rape of the Sabines'

Not just me, in fact it was one of the major subjects of Renaissance royal titillation via art commissions employing the old masters.

Actually if I could be a fly on the wall, it would have to be with another fly. They spend the whole of the summer just having great sex in flowers or rockabilly dancing in shafts of light.

Hitler killing himself, Eva and his dogs. Just to see if he found it easy or not considering all he'd done before.

Flies can’t talk I’m afraid. At least not to humans via a restricted two-way radio communication channel.

You’d merely be a helpless observer, your tiny fly brain processing the frustration as the tragedy unfolds.

No Chobulous. If you are a fly on the wall you are a fly on the wall. I presume from the post that one can pick and choose the options. After all, a fly on the wall would not be very much interested in 'The rape of the Sabines' except for the smell and would not be able to watch in human terms as they don't judge distance the same and see through compound eyes.

I'm satisfied to be human, actually. :-)

Whilst accepting that there were no actual 'walls' at the location itself but working within the parameters of the OT, I would like to have been with Custer just before his decision to engage with what he considered to be 'a few renegades' and then seeing his face when he discovered that his optimism was somewhat misplaced.

Remember the old saying chaps: walls have ears - so be careful what you say about their sausages.
