I hope he gets off to a good start in his managerial career.
Somebody mentioned this on talk sport earlier.
The conclusion was that Joey had spent quite a bit of time at Fleetwood already, and has built up a rapport.
Sol Campbell's approach is slightly different, whereas he just applies for jobs and tells anyone who will listen how much more he knows about football management than anyone else

Joey was at gawthorpe this (Wednesday) afternoon. Wonder if he was getting advice from Dyche for his new role?

Good luck to Joey! Nothing but good things to say about him during his two spells with us. Such an outstanding will to win and his contribution should be remebered for many years to come.

I've heard Steve Davis to be his assistant/coach...(?). Interesting move. Is Sandy Stewart available too (just in case he wants to arrange to fly home after a game)?

Don't care how he does either way but my opinion is he will fail, have a big chip on his shoulder, blame everyone but himself and go back to his natural home on talksport with idiots like Adrian Durham
No one is denying he's a gobshite.

As for natural home, he was only on there because he couldn't return to football.
He appears to have gone about it the right way though, got the badges, spent some time at Fleetwood and now has the job.
I doubt he'd have a big chip on his shoulder if it doesn't work out either but at least he's giving it a go unlike many pundits who gob off and never try it.

Question-

How will Joey Barton the Fleetwood manager, react to a young "Joey Barton" who he may cross paths with in the Fleetwood changing rooms?

He will use his experience to guide him undoubtedly. Don't lose the aggression and attitude. Channel it in the right way.

He'll stub a cigar out in his eye.

Unless, that is, he's already stopped smoking, in order to pay the fine for not paying his tv licence! ;)

I suspect his biggest issue will be that the need for an experienced hand to help him along in his first job will clash with his natural belief that he knows more about everything than everyone and that anyone who challenges him can f**k off.

Never displayed any of that with us.

Confidence and arrogance are two different things and everyone seems to confuse the two. especially with Barton!

Would like him to succeed. Obviously a complex character, but he is a good thinker about the game and talks a lot of sense. It will be interesting to see whether he can transfer his learning from SD into practice... and whether he can disengage his emotions sufficiently and let his mind do the work.

I read that the 'Fans will be able to show their appreciation at half time' but nothing, no mention or anything about him being at TurfMoor last night.

Same here.

I can't believe some of the posts on this thread. Then again, they seem to be from those people who never have anything good to say about anyone/thing.

Apparently the FA stepped in and wouldn't allow him to do the draw as he is banned until June.
