Re: JBG
If JBG could add goals to his game (and it's not for the want of trying, he has been very unlucky) I think we would struggle to hold on to him. Possibly the most in form winger in the Premier League not playing for Man City or Liverpool?

Mad stat
Johann Berg Gudmundsson has now contributed 5 PL assists this season.
Only David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Aaron Ramsey & Leroy Sane have more

I said this to my dad before. Although if he did we would have a 40million pound player on our handsjedi_master wrote:If JBG could add goals to his game (and it's not for the want of trying, he has been very unlucky) I think we would struggle to hold on to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYafhj_BjmU I'm sure most of us have seen the hat trick or is it hat-trick or is it hattrick he scored for Iceland in 2014 against the Swiss. Three absolutely sublime strikes. Hopefully when he gets one for us the floodgates will open. Love the guy. What a steal.

Re: JBG
I might've said this ten or eleven times already since last June...JBG will be picking up awards at the end of season do!
I think I'm ever so slightly in love with him
I'll avoid letting the wife know mind!

Re: JBG
Superb again today
Re: JBG
Immense today. He showed signs of what he could do last season but injuries made it difficult for him to get going. This season you wonder how we got away with paying £3m (or thereabouts) for him. He's technically good and sometimes very good. He's constantly involved. Tracks back no problem. Knows how to cross a ball and had a cracking game today. He is the epitomy of a 2017/18 Sean Dyche player.

Re: JBG
Remember Boro fans laughing at is for signing Pope and Gudmundson whilst they signed Valdes and Negredo. I've always like Johann but he just couldn't get any momentum. Our best attacking threat right now

He’s a good player. Always looking to create something, without being flamboyant or selfish. Brilliant signing.

Even more impressive when you look how many goals city and arsenal score and the forwards that they will be feeding. Aguero. Jesus. Sanchez. Sterling. Giroud. Ozil. EtcVegas Claret wrote:Mad stat

Re: JBG
With Brady injured I wouldn’t mind seeing JBG play down the other wing. Call me old fashioned, but I like to see left footers playing on the left.

Re: JBG
With Brady missing it gives teams a chance to double up on JBG and stop him cutting back onto his left foot.
Been excellent this season.
I would still like to try him in the CAM role though, where he could influence the game even more.

Re: JBG
My one disappointment with him was that he was the only one of our players wearing long sleeves. It must be taking him a while to acclimatise to Lancashire weather.

Re: JBG
Seems a bit wierd that there are a few on here wanting our most effective attacking player this season moved out of the position in which he's excelled (and which he says is his favourite position) into other positions, particularly after the goal yesterday showed exactly what he can do on the right that wouldn't be possible on the left.
He's been excellent this season and after a quiet start yesterday he was terrific again. A particular shout for his set plays, which I thought were outstanding and the most threatening we've produced all season. He's really upped his game this season.

He's been fantastic and a great signing. Brilliant change of pace which troubles the opposition. Some people saw his potential from the beginning - no more so than jdrobbo - whilst a few strangely concluded he's not good enough for PL.

Re: JBG
Pa Beamish used to play Five a Side at the Tommy Centre, back in the day. He played against John Connelly a few times and said of John that he really didn't know which foot was the best. He could score with either quite proficiently. Lovely guy, too.ngsobob wrote:If memory serves, and it doesn't always, John Connelly was left footed and played right wing so he could cut in and hammer it with his left.

Re: JBG
I must admit to being a bit dubious about whether JBG would be anything other than a really good squad player for us - he's proved me wrong on that because he's now an excellent premier league player.
Two really good points above about why that is - firstly, that change of pace which is really notable, but also in the context of Connelly being two footed, i'd say the JBG is as good with his weaker foot as anyone I've seen in the last few years. I think 3 of his assists to date this season are on his right foot and that does give him that option of going down the line as well as cutting inside.

Very good point - his weaker side is very strong so to speak.claretspice wrote:I must admit to being a bit dubious about whether JBG would be anything other than a really good squad player for us - he's proved me wrong on that because he's now an excellent premier league player.

Re: JBG
So many strikes on target for no return.
It's coming and when it does he'll get a hatful.
Had a dreadful first month but how he's picked it up since.

Re: JBG
Played extremely well this season, shame that thug from Lincoln wrecked last season for him.
Re: JBG
Worth reviving the JBG thread today. The above post is a really good assessment. I would add good in the air and two footed enough to make it difficult for full backs. Shame he didn't bag one but my MOM today (from an in and out stream).ecc wrote:Immense today. He showed signs of what he could do last season but injuries made it difficult for him to get going. Great player... maybe my favourite of a great bunch. The perfect upgrade on Scotty Arfield and a similarly amazing bargain. Love the man.

After 93 minutes he left the defender for dead when he cut in and fired off that shot. The guy is pure class.

Whilst our league position maybe suggests we should be looking at enhancing our squad with the next bracket of player, I still hope we keep our attention on the Championship, where there remains a plethora of talent

If he keeps improving at this rate I fear it will become difficult to fend off other clubs. I assume Iceland are still in the World Cup-his worth may well increase there
