£121m UK winner

Post by karatekid » Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:00 am

Jammy buggers. What would be your first impulse purchase if it was you?

I've always wanted to buy a really expensive watch from a posh shop. Don't know why, just have. :)

I'd buy a Singapore Airlines (to Singapore) first class ticket and stay in a Marina Bay Sands presidential suite till I figured out what to do with the rest.

I'd buy a really flash car and book a few holidays.

But why not 121 winners of £1 million? Then you'd have 121 happy people as opposed to just 1.

Wow !! you could fund so many good things you know things you have looked at in the past and thought I like that but it could do with a bit of help. How much does the average person need to have everything they need you could still have £ 90 million to give away but even if you hung on to every penny it wouldn't buy your health but it would be nice to have the distribution problem though. utc

I'd buy my watch from here. It even has a bar in the shop so you can see how your watch looks on you whilst you drink a martini.

The cricket club, then I've still a cool 111m left.
I'd then get on the board of directors, and help buy the cricket club for 15m.

That one piece of business will show I am more than business savvy, it helps me get a large return on my out lay ( another large tick in the directors needs ) although I will need to maintain a penny pinching approach with my now 126m, to show I am up to the job, so will buy a Ford Ka.

When I see winners like this I just wish that it ain’t my ex - I know she’d love to rub my nose in it at every opportunity - especially with our children.

If I won it, I would make sure she was financially secure for the rest of her life - for the only reason that she is the mother of my children.

I get what you’re saying mate, but she would know by the fact I’d turn up in a flash car to pick them up etc. My kids happiness would be improved by my altruism I’m sure.

I'd book one of those 'fly in a Spitfire' experience days.

Prices start from £3,500 so I'd have plenty of change.

Firstly, I'd have them open a bank a/c in London for me & have the funds paid in there..... £121m paid in to a current account anywhere in Burnley, would be all over town in hours, despite all the confidentiality rules..

Then, two or three weeks away somewhere hot, with time to think, and then back to meetings with professionals, to ensure I could look after family and friends in a tax efficient way, as well as helping lots of local good causes. I'd donate to a local amateur sports Club that's been a big part of my life, I'd try to establish a scheme for young lads who've had a tough start in life, a cross between " School of hard knocks " & " Bad lad's Army ". I'd also start a trust for residents to join together and have their blocks of Terraces sand/jet blasted, repointed etc to improve the visual appearance of our town.. :) :)

Securely invested £121mil should generate something around £15000 interest per day. I like the idea of waking up each morning £5000 wealthier than when I went to bed 8 hours earlier. The numbers are mind boggling.
What to do with it all? I don’t know. I will have 'earned' £50 ish since I started writing this post and still have all of the £121mill.

I certainly wouldn't go public. Think the best thing might be go on a long, quiet holiday and think through what you might do. Having so much money is a huge responsibility.

it would be a huge burden I think and lot's of so called friends coming out of the woodwork not to mention family. But I do feel I could just, and only just manage, I mean if it had been only 100 Million I think I would have to give it all away except maybe pay the house off and the grand children's education :)

No, socialism (tongue in cheek here) would involve setting up a Lottery Dispersement Committee with full administrative back-up, housed in a big building with lots of flags in central London. There would be H & S and diversity training for all, strict winning quotas established for each age group, sexual orientation, skin colour, degree of disability, and religion, along with a full grievance procedure. After expenses, that should leave maybe 1 or 2 million for the winners.
