Only 3 games to go....Brighton, Arsenal & Bournemouth.
Leicester & Everton can still finish above, so we need at least 4 points (if they win all of their games) to finish 7th.
How many points will we get?
(clearly, I am suffering from squeaky bum nervous syndrome)

They (our rivals) won't win all theirs, but.....
Brighton...win (three points)
Arsenal.....lose. (nowt)
B'mouth....win. (three points)
Giving us a nice total of 59 points.
Proudsville, Arizona.

A win and a draw will be enough. And it's about time we got something off Arsenal.

Can't Newcastle still catch us?
Everton have easiest run in.
Leicester have Arsenal at home and Spurs away in final two matches.

Everton have a goal difference of -14 compared to ours of +3 so a point means it's impossible for them to catch us with so many goals to make up.

If we win on Saturday and Everton/Leicester fail to win (away to Huddersfield and Palace respectively) then 7th is mathematically guaranteed.
Everton's GD is 17 or 18 goals worse off though anyway.
No worries.

We'll win the battle of the B's with two wins and draw at Arsenal with an injury time penalty

Clear 7th with 60 points and a good end to a great season.

6 with an option on a 7th if we don't get robbed by Arsenal yet again.
PS: I don't believe we need any points at all - Everton's goal difference means they need a miracle of biblical proportions even if they did win all their remaining games and Leicester just aren't good enough, they lack consistency. Newcastle will NOT win 3 on the bounce.

Win all three, Arsenal lose at Manure and Leicester and it will be an interesting final day for 6th place.
Sorry to bring this up but if Arsenal win Europa League do we go straight into group stages? If not, does it make a difference if Chelsea win FA Cup?

It would need Leicester to win three out of four or Everton to win all their remaining three games while we lose all ours.

Indeed.
Leicester have arguably the hardest run of games and are the only team with the slimmest of chances of overhauling us.

There are no circumstances where finishing seventh and not winning one of the cups gets a team straight into the group stages.
Seventh is the lowest of the low and even if there are only two English teams in the Europa draw it does not meet the criteria of automatic group stage qualification.

Why?
He won it when we were Champions three seasons go because he had managed to get Brighton, one of the favourites to go down into the play offs and they didnt get promoted.
Two seasons earlier a certain SD and his team were favourites for relegation, had to sell their best goal scorer Austin to balance the books, signed 3 players on a free Jones Heaton Arfield and one on a season loan Kightly, ended up runners up and promoted-and SD got jack ****.
What is all this about Chris Hughton

I think we've been reverting slowly back to the boring hoofball recently in preperation for this scenario. It's job done as far as I'm concerned, but a bore draw or 2 will seal it, and we all know we are more than capable of providing them.

Leicester will have to win two of three against Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Spuds to stand a chance. Tough in any circumstances but they have only taken one point from matches against Newcastle, us and Southampton.

Dont think Everton will catch us, Leicester are a bigger threat with their game in hand, a win on saturday will see us home and dry, still a bit of a squeaky bum time though. 2 of our games are defiantly winnable the other not so, we all know who they are.So on Saturday teatime i will be dashing home, digging out my passport, washing my holiday shorts and selling everything i own on Ebay to fund a trip to Europe, i just hope our first qualifier is somewhere warm, Portugal, Spain anywhere but Iceland or Norway. Here come the Clarets

Some poor maths going on here. Everton can reach 54 points if they win there 3 games. We have 53 so we need at least 1 point to even make goal difference a factor

Magic points is the answer. For those who dont understand the logic it works as follows. Magic points are the total number of points required to guarantee 7th place. The points required is the total points gained by Burnley and dropped by the other team ( in this case Leicester/Everton).
Our magic points are Leicester 4 and Everton 2. These totals do not rely on our goal difference being superior.

However, realistically, I don't think we're in any danger whatsoever of missing out
on a Euro place.

We need a win and a draw i.e., 4 points to be sure. 2 games at home and unlikely Everton or Leicester will win all their remaining games, with some against teams with something to play for. So we should be OK all being well. Hope so anyway as I've intentionally not booked my summer holidays so we can go wherever Burnley hopefully end up and the Mrs has already been put on notice we're going!

Whoever thought at the start of the season, that we would be worrying about whether we finish 6th, 7th or 8th?
Can’t remember anyone suggesting we might be playing in Europe. Incredible times!

I am more focused on how we can come 6th.
Arsenal have four matches left. Home against us and away at Man U Leicester and Huddersfield. There away form is rubbish so even two wins and a draw at the Emirates might get us 6th if Arsenal lose two and draw the other
Obviously a win at the Emirates would put us in a really good position. We are playing with increasing confidence so every reason to think that 6th is a good possibility.

I can't believe the pessimism on here about the Arsenal match.
There next three games before us are:
Atletico Madrid H
Man Ure A
Atletico A, possibility of ET & pens
If they beat Atletico they could have partied hard, if they lose they could be broken men.
WWW for me. and Bournemouth could be the toughest match.

A WWW in our last three and finishing above Arsenal would certainly
crown the season beyond most, if not all, of our wildest dreams.
Well, certainly mine anyway.
I think more realistically we'll get the 4 points we require and be well secure in 7th spot.
Although I'm sure Dyche won't allow the players to get complacent (albeit they've been a few signs in the last
few games where we've had to 'buck up our ideas' especially in the second half's) and concentrate on not slipping up
now we're virtually there.
He'll also, along with the Chairman and club too have to start planning for an early start to the season
and if we get into the group stages at least another 6 games (I think it is) and playing quite a few Thursday
fixtures followed by Sunday ones back in the Premiership.
If we lose 2 or three players (hopefully no more) then even with Defour and Brady getting back
for the new season then we'll probably need to bring another two or three new faces at least.
It's going to be a tough start to next season and quite a lot of re-adjusting.
Hope we make a good fist of it.

We probably couldn't have hoped for two better home games to ensure we get over the line. Long distance away-days for two safe teams who I assume are unlikely to bring a huge following.
Whilst we're not playing particularly fluently we are as effective and efficient as ever and would expect a minimum of four points.
Arsenal away took on a different meaning once it was announced that Wenger was leaving. It could go either way, especially after Atletico, but expect the tide of emotion to work in their favour.
None of the teams who could catch us are in the kind of form to suggest they are going to end the season with the wins required to cause any concern.

I would love to catch arsenal. 2nd round qualifying for Europa is a minimum of 6 matches BEFORE the group stage. I think we could qualify for the group stage but it would take a lot out of the team.
It would be hysterical if Arsenal lose in the europa final, finish 7th (behind us) AND have to qualify to even get to the Group stage for next year's europa league.
