Unless they score shedloads on Sunday, the Welsh clubs exchange places.
Alfie Mawson coming our way?

Re: Bye bye Swansea!
Hopefully, he would be a good signing, I still think Clucas would fit us nicely with Arfield leaving, similar workhorse versatile players.

Isn’t that two relegations in a row for Clucas?

Well chuffed for Huddersfield.
Swansea was a pretty crap hunting ground for us, 3 defeats out of three and 5 out of 6 defeats in total.
A long haul too.
Give me the Magic Rock brewery any day !

Re: Bye bye Swansea!
Agree with that Clucas shout, and theres a decent player in Tom Carroll too. Mawson might be one who needs to play alongside a Mee type rather than replace him. Needs a talker I suspect.
Sad to see Swansea go, in a sense. Been a great advert for what a small club can achieve for many years. But now a reminder that for smaller clubs, gravity catches up eventually - what we have to do is learn from Swansea went wrong and we might just be able to cheat gravity a little bit longer.

Really happy to see Swansea go down just because of Olsen and his antics at their place this season against us.

Land of their fathers won't help them now, but all for clubs our size keeping a foot hold and giving it a good shot.
We do need to learn from mistakes and where it went wrong for Swansea and take in as many pointers and build our own armour to try and avoid this fate. If we manage it right and go the way we are going we could grace this division for quite some time yet.

Been very lucky Huddersfield, imo...playing both Man City and Chelsea when both of those clubs had nothing to play for. Any other time would have been a different story.

Re: Bye bye Swansea!
To be fair Chelsea still needed a win to put the pressure on for 4th.....Brighton have proved they are no pushovers and could quite conceivably get a point at Anfield on Sunday.
FWIW we have got to be happy that all 3 promoted clubs have stayed up......3 "established" Prem teams have gone....2 of which have been somewhat of bogey teams to us over the years

Chelsea would have been level on points with Liverpool and potentially above Tottenham if they'd won. Champions League qualification is something to play for.claretfern wrote:Been very lucky Huddersfield, imo...playing both Man City and Chelsea when both of those clubs had nothing to play for. Not true. Arsene resigned because of the discontent of the fans ---not the players, therefore, the players wanted to give him a proper send off on his last home game after 22 years and even those fans who had been boycotting the games recently turned up to see it happen.tim_noone wrote:Arsenal had nothing to play for ...and spanked us!

Re: Bye bye Swansea!
Pleased for Huddersfield, they've played with enthusiasm and spririt and managed what we didn't do, the first time, stay up.
Real backs to the wall defending, the last two games and exiting to watch.
It means a shorter trip for us next season, so what's not to like? let's just leather the Yorkshire gits next season

Re: Bye bye Swansea!
We did - 6th place could have been ours with a win, we would be level on points now with a home game left, and Arsenal an away game having won no points whatever away in 2018. So it definitely wasn't a dead match. 6th would have sent us straight to the Group Stages.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: On the other hand ---we had nothing to play for.

A real shame great fans and a proper town team. Also it was an easy away trip down the M4.Unlike the slog up to West Yorkshire.

Some on here calling it small perhaps not aware what a big place Swansea is. With a quarter of a million inhabitants it's larger (by population ) than 7 other PL clubs, has quite a lot of urban areas nearby, and is 40 miles away from the next League club. There's no reason why its shouldn't be able to sustain top-flight football - especially with the financial backing it has.
Well done Huddersfield - though it's still twice as "big" as Burnley in terms of population.

Wouldn't be the first player to make a bad move, and find that it doesn't work out. Only a year ago his stock was as high - perhaps higher - than Harry Maguire's, and he was under serious consideration for an England call up.agreenwood wrote:Swansea fans appear to detest Clucas.
You can make a decent argument that that's exactly the sort of story which we've been good at exploiting to get good value in the last couple of years. Westwood and Cork decent examples of something similar.

Re: Bye bye Swansea!
What is the obsession with us signing players from the relegated teams it doesn’t make them cheap their contracts dictate that. We didn’t sign anybody from last seasons relegated teams although the year before we did JBG and Pope who had been relegated to league one.
Re: Bye bye Swansea!
SD and the players have been brilliant this season but this “nothing to play for” stuff seems lame. Before the game SD was saying it was an important game and that if we beat Arsenal we had a chance of 6th place.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote:Not true. We just played awful in very difficult hot conditions against a team who were up for the game and have a brilliant home record this season - we’ve not been great in last few games and were due a bit of a thrashing

All that happened was the sun came out over the bank holiday weekend and people phoned in sick to spend time in the sun rather than work. Because they work in a hotel around food they claim diarrhea and legally cannot work for 24/48 hrs. They hotel was then forced to cancel large groups bookings as they didn't have the staff.Top Claret wrote:Good riddance Swansea after the dirty tricks you played on Southampton and well done Huddersfield Town
