Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
Everton made boardroom changes and appointed a new chief exec yesterday - Allardyce didn't know.
He said: “I'm shocked, disappointed and disgusted that the football club didn't have the decency to tell me, my Director of Football and my staff about the changes.
“They must have been in the pipeline for a considerable time but no-one thought to tell me and my staff. I'm pretty disgusted.
“I came into the football club with the team struggling and we have finished 8th in the table.
“I’m more than happy with what myself, my staff and the players have achieved from when I came in.
“I will be meeting Farhad on Wednesday morning to discuss what happens next but I'm not expecting a long meeting.”

BFS’s comments a bit rich when you consider his ‘duplicity’ (?) when he had the England job...
Still... looks like he has been badly treated, they did make 8th in the end..
Who next for Goodson?

Not too much of a downer for him - the total remuneration whilst he was at Everton ( including pay-off) will be a great return on the time he's spent there.
He'll have wanted to stay (and he did achieve what he was employed for), but he'll be able to console himself with a very fat bank account.

Gone. Silva favourite. Arteta to Arsenal. Leaves West Ham and any others who might fancy Dyche. Heaton to replace Hart?

BFS let slip a loophole. Instead of canning him the FA should have been askinghampsteadclaret wrote:BFS’s comments a bit rich when you consider his ‘duplicity’ (?) when he had the England job...

a)why was there a loophole? and
b) if they knew the loophole why hadn’t they closed it?

Marco Silva nailed on.
Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
Everton is becoming a poisoned chalice. They were dropping like a stone and BSA turned them around and he still gets the boot. His replacement will get the same if they don't make the top six. Carry on like this and they will go down sooner or later.
Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
A poisoned chalice for a management career but 6 million for being sacked isn't too bad. BFS could buy Port, cheese and chewing gum factories and still have change. Happy Days.
Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
Much as I’m not a fan of Allardyce, his treatment is shocking. He’s brought in to do a job, finishes 8th, which by anyone’s standard is exceeding expectations given where they were, but is then dumped. It’s difficult to criticise managers who jump ship at the first opportunity given that the treatment handed out to Allardyce is becoming more and more the norm in football. Thankfully we have one of the very few chairmen and boards that don’t behave in this disgraceful way.

Sacked with a £6 million pay off. Nice.
Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
Which is a fraction of the hundred million plus relegation would have cost them.karatekid wrote:Sacked with a £6 million pay off. Nice.

Everton have been a bit of a shambles to say the least this season.
BFS was never their first pick and when they were stalling after initially interviewing BFS and then tried to get Silva, Allardyce publicly came out and said he had withdrawn from the job.
Silva then refused to join (or Watford would not let him) and Everton became desperate as their position in league became more precarious. They then took the “easy” way out and decided to go for a manager to avoid relegation rather than one to develop the team, play attractive football etc. By this time BFS had a very strong hand so when a desperate Everton comes back for him he gets this very lucrative contract.
He kept them up, they play sh-ite football and the fans not been happy for months.
It suits BFS down to the ground and he will now bank his millions, sit in his big garden on his big fat arse, tanning his massive oversized head and wait for the phone to ring next October / November from the next club who are in relegation trouble. I just hope this call never ever comes from us. I can’t stand the bloke - he’s a proven wrong un

I hope Everton is his last club, but doubt it.
At least we finally got a win against him in March, the odious piece of slime.
And we didn't even have to boo him off, the Evertonian's did it for us.

If he hadn’t such a greedy idiot he could have been announcing a World Cup squad today.
Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
If Dyche was tempted away by another club this summer would you be happy with Big Sam as his replacement?
Re: Big Sam to be axed within 48 hours... hold onto your hats!
Perhaps the gap between the top 7 clubs and the rest is becoming too big, even for a club like Everton.

It was the constant bitching from the Everton fans that cost his job. I note that Sean Dyche has mentioned quite a few times now how important it was to him that Burnley fans stayed loyal, even when relegated.
BFS will be laughing all the way to the bank will await next season for another club to be ‘rescued’.

Anyone else really want to see Everton struggle next season? I'm no Allardyce fan but I think it's very harsh to sack him after he came in and took them to a comfortable 8th in the PL. They were very poor at the start of the season and their fans were worried about relegation until he came in. Seems harsh to me.

Sam said
“I'm shocked, disappointed and disgusted that the football club didn't have the decency to tell me, my Director of Football and my staff about the changes."
They started telling his staff yesterday but he brings so many with him they didn't have time to get round them all.

There's a poll on an everton forum as to who they want their next manager to be. It looks like this so far:
Fonseca (never heard of him) - 30.2%
Emery (lol) - 46.7%
Silva - 15.4%
Dyche - 0.5%
Howe - 1.1%
Benitez - 6%
All that tells me is that they're desperately craving a foreign name. It'll be funny if it all goes tits up

Even if Everton had zero points when Allardyce took over in December he'd still have kept them up.
Ideas well above their station.

Clubs in the main who fire fat Sam struggle for a couple of seasons. Would be great to see them relegated after all they won't have a dodgy Wimbledon team to keep them up last game of the season this time round.
