Europa Tickets for Exiles
Hi everyone,
I've been an exile for more than 10 years and don't have any recent ticket history (always asked parents to sort out). Obviously, I'll be looking for tickets for the European games but with such short notice I'm not sure how I'll be able to get tickets. If my parents don't go to the game away from home and with such a short time between games how will tickets be sent out for those exiled?
Another question is will I need a ticket buying history and a clarets number?
Can print out at home be done?

I believe that you won't be able to use anyone else's Clarets Number for tickets for the away game(s).

Or can my friend still get mine should he have my number/card in the queue, as I'm at work?

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
when we say risk it are we talking travelling away anyhow without tickets,
best case scenario: be able to "pay on the gate" ;
worst case scenario : still be able to soak in the atmosphere around the town / ground ?
Cos that's what I'm thinking of doing...

It will be one per Clarets Number but basically Person A won't be able to get a ticket on his Clarets Number and let Person B use it.MACCA wrote:Meaning only 1 per person?

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
A lot of european away games have ticket collection points in the town/city you are playing in and you collect your ticket on the day of the game with ID required.

I think that's how it works - you will order your tickets here but get them at the venue or host town/city.claretonthecoast1882 wrote:A lot of european away games have ticket collection points in the town/city you are playing in and you collect your ticket on the day of the game with ID required.

So how exactly are the club going to stop someone buying a ticket and passing it on to someone else?ClaretTony wrote:It will be one per Clarets Number but basically Person A won't be able to get a ticket on his Clarets Number and let Person B use it.

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
They have this system for the England fan membership...it is a ball ache.
You are staying in one resort but have to travel to x hotel in another resort at a certain time to pick your ticket up with ID.
I hope BFC do not enforce this

So you’ll be sat on your own then if you can’t buy more than one ticket? Or, am I being monumentally thick?
Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
FFS. Anybody wanting a ticket will get one, I know everyone is saying they're going but honestly, they won't.

No you can sit in a group, as long as you all have enough points, and plan to travel.Foulthrow wrote:So you’ll be sat on your own then if you can’t buy more than one ticket? Or, am I being monumentally thick?
So 1 person can buy 5 tickets with the correct points, but those exact 5 people ( that the clarets numbers have been used for ) need to pick up their ticket individually with ID once in the town/city of the game, on the day of the game.
It's a bit of a nightmare, but all depends how long the club has between ties, they may not have enough time to receive the tickets and shift them, with loyalty periods.

The bottom line is that there will be plenty of unsold seats due to the cost of travel, hotels and sorting out the logistics.
Few in their right minds will stump up hundreds if not at least a grand to see us play in some European backwater in the early rounds.

I think the demand will be extremely high, no matter who we get drawn against.
For anyone who's under 50 or whatever it is, will have only ever had dreamt of watching their club in European competition, and wont want to risk passing up what could be the only chance, by risking waiting for group qualification.
I think the first game will be massive on peoples list of priorities.
Then later, they may possibly select the most appealing group game, should we qualify.
There's no gimme's, even more so with us not being fully in the swing of things, and us expected to play Thursday/Sunday for nearly a month, with what may not be a fully assembled squad.
Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
Given that we struggle to sell tickets properly for away games in this country, can anyone sense an almighty balls up coming if it's correct we are implementing this scheme?

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
Don't understand that at all - every ticket I believe will have to be collected when you get there and will be matched with your passport number which I assume you will need to submit to our club.Grumps wrote:Does this include supporters clubs?
Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
I've followed England away a bit and as others have said this can be a real pain in the neck. If they are going to implement such a scheme then it has to be enforced 100% to make it fair. Suppose it's a nice free trip away for certain members of the ticket office staff if nothing else!

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
That might have answered a question I had as to who distributes the tickets over there, looks like it is our responsibility. It can only be enforced 100% surely if we are going down that path.jrgbfc wrote:I've followed England away a bit and as others have said this can be a real pain in the neck. Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
If it is properly enforced then I suppose it's not a bad idea, especially if we only have a week to get organised. At least we know the people that deserve top priority will be the one's guaranteed tickets.

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
It's not a Europa league stipulation to get tickets with I.D when there.
I've just asked my Dad and Everton fans got their tickets in England last season but he thinks Man City use that policy.
So it will be a club policy if they enforce it.

Quite often people come on here and ask if any spare tickets for away games, and on occasions some of the supporters clubs have offered to supply tickets, which would not be in the persons name in these circumstancesClaretTony wrote:Don't understand that at all - every ticket I believe will have to be collected when you get there and will be matched with your passport number which I assume you will need to submit to our club.

That will put up flight prices into four figures for some of the more remote locations.

Maybe not ..flights into North Wales can't be that expensive surely .. might just be me but if and when we draw a side from these islands the excitement could well fade on here ... especially if we have to play at Wrexham because Bala/Cefn/Connah's Quay can't manageSpijed wrote:

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
For anyone wondering how the system might work I'll use England as an example basically the FA hires out a conference room in a big, fancy hotel slap bang in the middle of the city centre or in an area where they think most people are likely to be staying/drinking. On arrival they check your members card against the name on your tickets, this is only usually a quick glance to be fair and you're good to go. This is usually available the day of the game and previous day, and they have the option of picking up at the ground, for people who might be on a tight schedule.

..and these people are whom?jrgbfc wrote:people that deserve top priority

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
in regard to the subject line, we are exiled in USA and obviously don't go to matches that often and have no number. So assume we will back of the queue when trying to buy tickets, that will mean as pointed out, flight prices will be at the highest plus trying to find hotels, which maybe difficult also. Assuming 3 of us going it will be expensive, don't see us getting to any home games which would have been nice to get home at the same time so believe an away match is the best option but expensive. Therefore where the away match is will be a determining factor as can plan a break around it since flying time will be a minimum of 10 hours unless Iceland which may drop the time a little.
However how the club organize how tickets are bought and when will definitely be a determining factor for us, I assume (& quite rightly) there will be a system for being able to purchase on a time basis so we exiles will for the most part be at the end and if the opening day for us to buy tickets is just a few days then sadly we will not be going. Therefore hoping there is some time to be able to buy and plan hotel trip etc.

People who have the most points, so the people who have had season tickets and followed us away the most in the last 10/15 years. Unless you think people who have jumped on the bandwagon since we got in the Prem deserve priority?Diesel wrote:..and these people are whom?

I'm no bigger or better Burnley fan because I started watching in 88 over someone who started later on.
The system is prejudice against people born later on.

I agree that the loyalty points system isn't perfect but it's probably the fairest way possible, unless you have a suggestion?Quickenthetempo wrote:What about them who don't go to away games but let others use their Clarets number to obtain tickets and pocket the points?

My advice would simply be if you see a trip you fancy just get it booked. You can worry about tickets later. You can always go in the home end, worst case scenario you watch it in a bar and just make sure you have a cracking holiday in Europe. There's a good chance we'll never have the opportunity again!

It's been done to death on here but personally I would reset it every two years.jrgbfc wrote:I agree that the loyalty points system isn't perfect but it's probably the fairest way possible, unless you have a suggestion?
You don't realise until you have to tell your kids you will likely never qualify for tickets for Old Trafford etc..
Just for being born later than someone else.
Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
Yeah I see your point, that's the way it works with following England away. Points are reset every four years but some are rolled over, so the people who do the most games still get some advantage but it's not a closed shop. Anyway I bet if we stay up for a few years the novelty of going to places like Old Trafford will soon disappear and tickets will be a lot easier to come by.Quickenthetempo wrote:It's been done to death on here but personally I would reset it every two years.

Re: Europa Tickets for Exiles
Does anybody have an answer as to how us exiles can get a Clarets Number then?
I accept we'll be at the back of the queue having seen very few games recently due to living away but if they get to General Sale and there is a possibility of a ticket then I'd wanna have the chance. I don't care where we're playing, if I can get a ticket I'm going.

Carry on the way it is but leave 10-20% of allocation to first come first served or a ballot.jrgbfc wrote:I agree that the loyalty points system isn't perfect but it's probably the fairest way possible, unless you have a suggestion?
How do 18 year olds qualify for away tickets for the bigger games in their own names if all they have ever been to home games with their parents and haven’t accumulated enough points.
