It’s a strange one this. Bristol press seem to think it’s birtually a done deal but our local press seem to think there is nothing in it.Newcastleclaret93 wrote:mirror Reporting this afternoon that Bryan from Bristol is set to sign shortly.

We couldn't afford Lascelles left foot and without being disrespectful to us......why on earth would he leave Newcastle for anyone outside the big six ?FCBurnley wrote:Lascelles is young, quality and a leader. And he would improve under Dyche. Be a great signing even if Mee went ( which I think he will )

Local press only say what Bentley tells them they can... Very unhealthy at times but gives reporters access to players and management if they toe the lineClaretTony wrote:It’s a strange one this. Lancs Telegraph have reported multiple times that we have no interest in him.Newcastleclaret93 wrote:mirror Reporting this afternoon that Bryan from Bristol is set to sign shortly.
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
My target would be Moussa Dembele (Celtic). Might cost £15 million but I am sure he could be tempted by the PL and Europa cup. If you don't ask...

I'm not saying they are right or wrong, just what's been said in the last week.Reecey1987 wrote:To be fair local press said that barton and defour was wide of the mark

But interestingly that's where the story is coming from - the local Bristol journos.Grumps wrote:When was the last time local journos were first with any transfer news?
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
I meant our local journos..... Iam well aware local reporters at other clubs are spot on.... Ours quite regularly use quotes from other papers to form a transfer story... Leeds, Nottingham and Brighton spring to mind as being well ahead of our transfer dealings in recent yearsClaretTony wrote:But interestingly that's where the story is coming from - the local Bristol journos.

What's Mr Nixon got to say about our signings?
Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
.... Dyche's new contract was correctly reported on here long before the local press, if I'd been their editor I'd have been furious they didn't know about it

So they got invited to the lunch at barnfield where it was announced? That's not really providing any kind of service to their readerswilks_bfc wrote:Maybe they did know about it but agreed with the club not to publish it

Guy on twitter saying we will sign West Brom winger James McClean on Friday. 4 goals in 99 appearances.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
I'd take him, it isn't all about goals. We need 4 good wide men. He offers something different to the others,LoveCurryPies wrote:Guy on twitter saying we will sign West Brom winger James McClean on Friday. 4 goals in 99 appearances.
I'd see him as an upgrade on Scott Arfield.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Hi, watched him very closely at Scot Browns Testimonial game a week last Sunday, have to say I was quite impressed with him. I accept it was a very friendly affair, but throughout his time on the pitch, he really did put a shift in, more so than any of the others. He was neat, tidy, good control, and quicker than I had previously thought. Decent passer of the ball over a short distance, and worked hard to get the ball back. As a footballer he looked as if he would suit SD's ethos. Cant comment on anything else, we will all have varying views on what we have or haven't or even imagine we've heard,
He was cheered at every opportunity by the Celtic supporters.

Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Jota and Grealish are one's I'd like to see rather than all those from WB.
do we really need another striker given what we have even with European football? My thoughts are more around service to the strikers and improving there from the squad plus someone young to drive through midfield which is another area to strengthen first for me
Of course we will need more I think just thinking of early candidates besides the Jay Rod one which could be real

He is a Celtic fanatic. He was trying to impress Rodgers, whilst the rest were playing a testimonial during their holidays.Seasideclaret wrote:Hi, watched him very closely at Scot Browns Testimonial game a week last Sunday, have to say I was quite impressed with him. Re: Who Will Be Our First Signing
Just heard from someone who met James Collins on holiday (ex West Ham centre back) that he told them that he was talking to Burnley about signing. It was a Bolton fan who met him on holiday - no reason to make this up.

As long it doesn't get beyond talking, then we're alright.
