Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
I work in Stoke and I overheard some of the lads discussing their new kits (bold choice of purple for their away kit next season). I was suprised at how on the ball they were getting both home and away kits on sale for the 1st June. I mentioned this and they said it was relatively late for them.
It got me wondering why are we so slow to get our new kits on sale? Surely getting them out late May early June will give everyone the opportunity to purchase the new kit for their summer holidays.

Maybe the club are still negotiating the best deal for a shirt sponsor.

Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
Less than half of the Premier League teams have unveiled their kit for next season.
4 of them being the top 4.
Won't be that late by any stretch. We'll see it soon anyway given that we had our new kit shoot a while ago and we have to have it ready for the Europa League games.

Why do people wear football shirts on their summer holidays?

I get people think pre Fathers day and summer holidays are a great to get the kit out, but how many who want them that badly for them occasions, wont just buy 1 when the are out anyway.
The shirts will most probably be out for the summer holidays ( when the schools break up )
July is when the kit will be available to purchase, not a day earlier I'm told, but we may get to see a glimpse of it before then.

Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
I haven’t bought a replica kit for years. Purely from a marketing perspective. These kits have a shelf life of 12 months... I’d expect the majority of sales to be within the first 3 months. Surely if we get the kit out a month earlier, we’d increase sales? It’s either that or have the old kit on sale an extra month at the end of its life cycle.
Please don’t think I’m having a go at the club here. It just seems like an opportunity to increase shirts sales (however slight) is being missed.

Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
May be the club want to claw some money back by flogging off the old shirts/merchandise we still have left this season first.
Then there's the logic that we maybe squeezing an extra 50-100k more from competing shirt sponsors.
You'd have to shift a hell of a lot of shirts to people who will only every buy them if sold in May/June to make it worth while.
I doubt the figure of people in that bracket is that high, to warrant rushing any kit launch.
Just think, releasing shirts later, selling off soon to be old uneanted stock, and maximising sponsorship, is what keeps the prices of the Twix so reasonable.

To be fair I think the OP has a good point. I cannot remember a season when we got the new kit out early and we have also missed the summer holidays before.
If it was a sponsor negotiation thing that's fine but it happens almost every year and its hard to understand why.

It takes a long time, to produce 8k shirts, when you're near the back of the queue.

Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
It's not Dafabet, but we do have another sponsor. That's the reason for the delay I'm told. It could now be July before the kit is available.
Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
I got told the same, not a day earlier than July, possibly well into July.ClaretTony wrote:It's not Dafabet, but we do have another sponsor. That's the reason for the delay I'm told. It could now be July before the kit is available.

Wonder if the club are either going to have a blank shirt or have a "one off" sponsor if that's the case?bfcmik wrote:Couldn't wear our PL kit for Europa League ties - no gambling adverts allowed in UEFA competitions

Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
I heard/read it wrong - if you are playing in a country that bans whatever company, product or service is your sponsor then that ban must be complied with by wearing a previously approved kit.

In certain countries such as France teams play without a betting or alcohol sponsor and just have it blank.
Everton had ‘Everton In The Community’ on their shirts when they played at Lyon last season.

I would suspect that a lot of people like to wear football shirts on their summer holidays. I tend not to but my 10 year old son loves his Burnley top and wears it whenever he can. I never understand why some people are so judgemental about what other people wear though.nyclaret wrote:Why do people wear football shirts on their summer holidays?

Match day and on holiday is the only place I wear mine. I'm proud to show it off around fans of other teams, especially these days. It can also be a great conversation starter at your hotel etc.
Re: Slow off the mark - Kit Launch
No wonder the toffees had a poor season. No chemistry between those players at all in that picture. Rooney looks like he can't get away quick enough and MK looks totally dejected.ClaretTony wrote:Not sure where you've got that from. It certainly wasn't the case in the season just ended.

Boohoo will be well short of what we would get for a bookie. £10m reported a few months ago wasn't it? Can't see it happening.

Nobody will come close to what a betting company can offer.
I don't think it'll be Dafabet this season, but it'll be some other bookie.
