Johnny Evans
off to Leicester according to JPercy of the telegraph on twitter.
100% spot on normally as well.
Only £3 million as well (due to relegation release clause)

Re: Johnny Evans
The transfer fee is £3m but a lot have been put off by the fact the agent wants much more than that plus a fat signing on fee for Evans more likely to cost around £12m +

He strikes me as one of those defenders who can look good in the opponents penalty area (attacking) but not so good in his own (defending).

Really better off without him as I said before then, so both parties should be happy.

for what it's worth I think Evans is very good, he'd look a world beater in our set up and would definitely improve us.

Seems a good signing especially for that money. In terms if ability i.e. wages aside, I'd have had him here.

Re: Johnny Evans
Simply that he’s not top notch at basic “defending” some get away with it by looking good in opponents penalty areas which in my view Evans has.

Really surreal posting. He is not going to WC. He represents NI. Even if he did play for Wales they are not going either.Diesel wrote:He's Welsh.

Re: Johnny Evans
I think he's very similar to Michael Keane.
Put him in a well organised unit with plenty of midfield support and strict, disciplined framework and he may well shine. Plonk him anywhere else and he might just turn into a hapless donkey.

Re: Johnny Evans
Some pretty strange comments on this thread
Yes we finished above Leicester - does not mean we are a bigger or better club than them.
Jonny Evans was very strongly linked with both Man City and Arsenal in January. This was partly due to his publicised release clause but also because he is a good player with bags of top flight experience.
People who think he is not a good defender or would not improve Burnley are a bit delusional - the reason we have not been linked is because he would not have come to Burnley and we could not afford his wages. This is difficult for us as even if we got the lad from Forest for say £15m we would be getting an unproven championship defender for a lot more money than Evans will cost Leicester.
It’s no great loss for me as I never thought for a minute we would get Evans. If we got Dawson for say £10m then I would be happy as he falls in the same category as Evans with an added bonus of covering right back

LCFC had a bid of £25M turned down last summer.
Payment will be 2 instalments of £1.75M.
I live local & work in the city - pals seem pretty happy with this signing.

Three and a half mil is a snip.
Re: Johnny Evans
Great signing IMO, especially for £3.5m. We're living in a world where Lascelles is being touted at £40m after all. Some of our fans think we should get upward of £30m for Ben Mee if we can't agree a new contract. And lets not forget the £25m we got for Keane last summer. £3.5m for an experienced PL and International defender is an absolute steal!!
Evans and Maguire will be a good partnership... if they can keep hold of Maguire that is.

Do you understand the concept of release clauses ?South West Claret. wrote:Only 3.5m just reflects his poor value in my opinion.
Trippier went for £3.5m - does not mean he was worth £3.5m.
If you seriously think there is better value out there than paying £3.5m for Evans then feel free to mention who.

Nothing to do with better value I maintain Evans is not a top defender for the reasons elsewhere in this thread.TVC15 wrote:Do you understand the concept of release clauses ?

Evans is a bargain signing for that money,i wondered if he might be a replacement for Maguire, but just looked and Harry still has 4 years on his contract, so if he goes it will be crazy money.jlup1980 wrote:Great signing IMO, especially for £3.5m.
