Utter rubbish.

How long is he contracted for? Has he renegotiated his pay with his elevated status?

£30m, done deal. We're sure to get a couple of year's quality service from Tom and should be able to bring another 'keeper through in that timehampsteadclaret wrote:IF TRUE! -any links?

We'll be lucky to get £15 million for a keeper whose distribution is so poor!!

After the CL final, this was ALWAYS gonna get reported.
Might be some truth in it, might just be typical lazy arsed journalism. Either way, for £15m, you can poke it.

It's a pointless discussion as can't see any other team offering that amount based on the fact he can't kick a ball straightboatshed bill wrote:Not really, i'm emphasising that £15m isn't enough to sell for. Distribution is not an issue.

This appears to be a problem with klopp. He doesn't take the role of keeper seriously enough. Pope is nowhere near the standard required of a team hoping to be English and European champions. Klopp is with keepers like Wengers attitude was to defenders.

He hasn't convinced me. I'd need to watch hoofball to be convinced. I don't watch hoofball, I have a ST at Turf Moor where I watch Burnley play intelligently, and with hard work and skill, using whatever tactics are deemed necessary to frustrate and outwit their opponents.Devils_Advocate wrote:Don't understand the link between him being our player of the year and someone paying £15 millions for him.

If you think putting two big guys up front and lumping it in their general direction is anything better than aimless in the context of football you have very low standardsdsr wrote:If we hoofed it to Barnes and Vokes, then it wasn't aimless, was it? You should stick to pedalling blatent lies on political threads that supports your abhorrent beliefs as you excel in that area
Re: Pope to the Scousers £15million
we have an option on a 3rd year so he has 2+1 left before he is OOC. £15million seems about right to me.
£15million per year of contract outstanding plus his wages over the next three years.

Re: Pope to the Scousers £15million
Did his “poor distribution” cost us a goal this season ?Devils_Advocate wrote:We'll be lucky to get £15 million for a keeper whose distribution is so poor!!
£30m Pickford and Butland both gave away a number of goals this season through trying to be too clever or just poor kicking as did plenty of other keepers in our league.
Given the season Pope had and his statistics for actually stopping goals it’s very strange that you decide to focus on an area of his game which is nowhere near as bad as people make out.
Do you think the fact that he can’t kick a ball like Ederson is more important than for example the fact that he is one of only a couple of keepers in the league (other being Courtois) who actually catches the ball from crosses rather than punches it ?(and give back possession)

It's a slow Sunday.
Re: Pope to the Scousers £15million
If you attended matches you would admit that the football changed at different stages with injuries to key players. A lot more creative football until this point in the season and then what genius to switch tactics and grind out a top seven finish with depleted resources.Devils_Advocate wrote:Don't understand the link between him being our player of the year and someone paying £15 millions for him.
Dyche has convinced us that hoof ball is great if it delivers the results and Pope epitomises that vision as good as anyone
Patience is required as we slowly build up the squad to be able to survive as well as be good enough to ping the ball around on the deck at lightning speed. Dyche hasn't had to convince us of any thing he is now stood in legend territory. Whilst you need to convince that your actually a Burnley fan who has been to games this season and not in fact Owen Coyle sat in a bed sit.

Re: Pope to the Scousers £15million
Can we all stop being silly, what do you lot think you are playing at defending a Burnley player, anybody would think this is a Burnley FC message board. I mean come on folks, Pope clearly can't kick a ball a long, long way therefore he's rubbish, you lot are all blinkered and Devils Advocate is spot on (thanks for the earlier mention btw, nice to see you're thinking about me).
Forgot all that guff about his meteoritic rise from obscurity to becoming one the top performing keepers who has made unbelievable saves/ commands the penalty/ catches difficult crosses/ helped us win (?) however many points, etc, etc and now finds himself on the verge of a World Cup. Just stop it and forget all that. Cos Devils Advocate quite rightly keeps highlighting the fact he cant kick the ball.
