Re: Dragons Den
Love Dragons Den, even find myself watching repeat episodes on Youtube (yes, sad I know)
Read Duncan Bannatynes autobiography a while back, surprisingly good read and the story of his rise from ice cream van man to mutli-millionaire businessman is really interesting and as the title of the book implies, makes you think "anyone can do it"

Re: Dragons Den
Duncan Bannatyne once denied that people were going hungry in the UK, told me on Twitter I was talking crap.

Other than that, it's a none story, that hasn't contributed to the thread what so ever.
You do talk quite a lot of crap to be fair, I very much doubt, you put it across like that, and he answered in that tone.ClaretAndJew wrote:Duncan Bannatyne once denied that people were going hungry in the UK, told me on Twitter I was talking crap.

I went on Dragons Den last week but came away with nothing. Apparently asking Deborah Meaden to sort out some coffee and sandwiches while the men talk business isn't acceptable.

A show about blood-sucking capitalists. No wonder it's so popular. We have our own version here in Canada.

Do you not believe there are people starving in this country? I think the influx in use of food banks is enough but :Damo wrote:Can we see the tweet where you proved it?

Bannatyne rarely spends time in this country, he's normally on a yacht.

So too many families are struggling to fulfill their children's nutritional needs, or, they are hungry.Damo wrote:From your own link.

More than 8 million people in Britain live in households that struggle to put enough food on the table, with over half regularly going a whole day without eating, according to estimates of hunger in the UK https://www.theguardian.com/society/201 ... urvey-says" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They are struggling to fulfil their children's nutritional needs.
Basically they are feeding them on shite (chicken nuggets, Turkey twizzlers etc)

Re: Dragons Den
But that's not what ClaretandJew stated. He's saying Bannatyne said people aren't going hungry. The reason behind matters not, it's still a yes or no. And it appears to be yes, with some people. Which suggests he (ClaretandJew) was correct.MACCA wrote:Due to their parents life choices
Re: Dragons Den
He said starving to Bannatyne which in my mind is much more severe than someone being hungry. Bannatyne may have thought the same - I doubt he would argue that there aren't people who are at times hungry.
Re: Dragons Den
I'm hungry now, I'm not starving.
Starving insinuates people are going to die from lack of food.

Re: Dragons Den
Have you considered the fact that many parents, especially in the Burnley area, are on low wages which haven't kept pace with inflation. Also, many in-work benefits have been cut and this is really hitting the working poor. No doubt you'll dispute this, Mr Rarely Wrong, but I couldn't give a toss because you come across as a bit of an arrogant prick.MACCA wrote:Due to their parents life choices

Second part, nope can't dispute that, and I value your opinion, but sadly it is wrong this time.
Re: Dragons Den
Frustratingly I am unable to find the link however I have previously read something around the number of families who struggle to feed their children yet at least one of the parents are smokers! It’s life choices in so many casesBilly Balfour wrote:Have you considered the fact that many parents, especially in the Burnley area, are on low wages which haven't kept pace with inflation.
