Bielsa In At Dirty Leeds

Post by ElectroClaret » Fri Jun 15, 2018 8:19 am

Marcelo Bielsa has signed a contract to become the new boss at Elland Road. (BBC sport)
Highly regarded by both Guardiola and Pochettino, apparently.

However, was sacked last December by Lille.

Wonder how long this one'll last?

Just visited the Leeds United forum and a lot of fans are now expecting big name signings.

No mention of hard work and team bonding. Their expectations are going to be sky high.

He may well be highly regarded by others, the problem is the championship will be something completely different to him. He may well hack it, we'll have to wait and see, however, knowing Leeds if you don't get it right within the first few months the writings on the wall.

Our resident Leeds fans will be along soon, to tell us the sleeping giant is about to become one of footballs major players again...

This fella might not get to the season starting if pre season isn’t filled with victories...

They’ll get it right at some point. When they get up, they’ll stay up.

However, this one, whilst exciting for them, is a huge risk. He plays 3-3-1-3 ffs, they’ll kick the **** out of them at that level.

50/50 appointment for me, he could do well for us but he could equally just as much be a massive disappointment and cost us more than a few quid. He needs to be given a decent amount of time but by all accounts he's not exactly the predictable type himself so he could dump us before we'd even consider getting rid.

We need a few decent signings that are good at this level rather than "big names". Bielsa is known for his attacking formation but I don't know if we'll have the players to suit that, or whether it would work in the championship.

Main hope is for a bit of stability and hopefully a decent push towards the prem. It looked promising early last season and then fairly dramatically dropped off. Heckingbottom just didn't get the results, but he was bringing through some of the youth lads which was good to see.

Bit like England for me, I don't expect too much anymore but you always hold on to that bit of hope in the back of your mind that we could just do it this year :D

This will be another season where they believe promotion is a certainty, nay fundamental right, then.

Been a running theme for some years now. I doubt it will happen next season either.

You can get the best manager in the world, but if he goes without a win in 5 games at any point, or suggests he needs better players - he’s gone.

Where is my best mate Dick Advocaat (or should that be Devils Advocate, I'm not good with names) when you need him? I'm sure he'll be along shortly to fill us in on the details.

Apparently, there 2 million leeds leeds leeds fanatics at the airport to welcome him to the footballing capital of erm, west yaaarksha.

Leeds are his 5th club in the last 7 years.

His CV suggests he’s not quite the successful maverick he once was.

Might just be what they need. But more than likely he will fail. They have had some good managers at that level since they went down. But due to the expectations of the board (and fans) and also the hire fire nature of the board its meant there is too much going on outside of the club and too much pressure for anyone to ever succeed there.

When you compare their structure with ours its no wonder we have had so much more success than them since they came down.

Christiansen looked a good appointment. Started well. Had a bad patch and he's gone.

If they give him time and patience Biesla will probably do well. Personally think Carvahal wouldve been a better choice.

I'm surprised Carvahal wasn't considered, but he'd have been under fire straight away with his Sheffield Wednesday connections.
This guy's unknown to me but Leeds track record doesn't bode well for a long-term stay.

Ask people about him at Marseille when he resigned after the first game of the season or at Lille where he squandered a lot of money on unknown players and took the team into the relegation zone before being sacked.

We're talking SVG territory with insane and unpredictable personal conduct thrown in.

He'll be gone by Xmas.

I think Leeds should restore Manager title to show trust in the guy.

Massive footballing city, with some of the best and most fanatical fans in the land but a club managed from the top like a dogs dinner.

I dont think anyone could argue the loyal Leeds fans dont deserve to be back where they belong but until the management and running of the club is sorted I cant see things changing too much on the pitch

Just imagine our owners and our manager with a club the size of Leeds now that would be a footballing dream team

They belong where the results their team gets on the pitch place them in the final table. No Club has a God given right to eat at the top table.

I think you need to go and support Leeds DA. I'm quite happy supporting our unbelievable team and club. My dream is happening now and I wouldn't swap it for any other club.

Just for the 15th consecutive year. Fif-teen. One - Five. 15 seasons they have been down. I was young when they were last in the top flight.

I agree that Leeds fans should be where they belong, but it's a bit unfair to wish them onto the fans of the other clubs in the Northern Counties (East) League.
