 Its laughable when people come out with stuff like this.

Holland and Italy weren't good enough to qualify end of.

Italy couldnt even score never mind beat Sweden in two legs. The same Sweden that Holland couldnt finish above.

they didn't qualify so they don't deserve to be there. Doesn't matter if Iran qualified from an easier section. It's like suggesting that Cardiff shouldn't have got promoted to the Premier League because they aren't as good as West Brom

and Iran were only good enough to qualify because they were playing against teams like Syria, Uzbekistan, China and Qatar.

As they say thats the luck of the draw and youc an only beat whats in front of you. Italy didnt Iran did. And thats why its the world cup not the euros. Which Holland failed to qualify for behind Iceland, Turkey and The Czechs. And where Italy lost against Ireland

That wasn't their fault, though. You can only play what's put in front of you.

But it's the WORLD Cup not the European Championships, another tournament Holland failed to qualify for last time out.

It was a bit of a mumble but Burnley did get a mention in a positive way, then added we've not played in Europe since 1967 and that some people up here still wear clothes from 1967.
Odd

KRBFC needs reminding how many times England have qualified out of groups containing Lithuania, Faroe Islands and Gibralter etc

Was George Oghani of Iranian descent?

(Altho I think Rochdale may have thought he was Irish and printed his name as George O'Ghani in the programme )

Along with Leyton James and Brenda O'Connell lol.
I think I had a programme from Hull that suggests Marion Beresford was our goalie!

From what I remember they were talking about how Marco Van Basten had called a Moroccan player crazy for choosing to play for Morocco instead of the Netherlands, then there was a mumble and they said they'd been hearing a lot about Burnley now being in Europe. Just seemed a very tenuous link to me

It really was mumbled. I wondered if there was a link between us and that player that looked a bit like Martin Paterson?? The guy who committed the foul when that Iranian squealed like a cat.

It was. He turned down Holland and they were saying he'd turned down Burnley and could have been in Europe next season. That was the drift of it anyhow.

I’m not his biggest fan but nobody has ever sat down to assess their career and got away with his solution.
He walks around for 5 or 10 minutes doing nothing and then puts all his pace and power into a dynamic run that produces results.
Fair play to his teammates who do all his covering for him knowing what he can give them.

He wouldn’t get in a Dyche team though.

How is tricking your opponent into diving into a tackle not a penalty? the defender got baited and stepped across into Ronaldo's path.
