Re: World cup thread
France look a very misbalanced team. Australia easily get in the final 3rd time and time again.

Re: World cup thread
Australians just look australian don't they? When the camera panned to the crowd, had it been shot in black and white and shown to someone with no idea what they were looking at and asked to name where they were from, you'd get Australia every time.

Auzzies playing like a dyche team.
Re: World cup thread
Just switched it on, watched the last 20 mins or so, the French have dived 3 times (and got 2 free kicks that shouldn't have been); and then complained (with Deschamps waving his arms around in the background) when they didn't get one debatable decision. Really spoils the whole game.
Just get on with the football FFS.

Australia playing very confidently so far.

I think he’s brilliant. He just says it how it is. Whilst not always the most knowledgable (which pundit is?) he’s not bothered about upsetting anybody.cricketfieldclarets wrote:I think im getting old (or pundits getting worse) i actually like lawrenson

Re: World cup thread
Penalty for me. He may have touched the ball but he didnt tackle the French player who still had control of the ball and then with the follow through he pulled him down stopping the strker getting a shot away
Re: World cup thread
If they are going to use VAR to overrule a decision the decision has to be right and it wasn't. Scrap VAR.
Re: World cup thread
That’s the biggest problem with var in football. There’s no natural stop in play after certain instances.

Scandalous decision.
Re: World cup thread
As devils advocate says above, deliberately clips him with right foot.
Do we have to listen to Mark Lawrenson?

If you accept he touched the ball then what you've written next is a load of tosh.

If we're playing to the absolute rule then they should give the stupid referees a measuring stick for free kicks.

Re: World cup thread
Of course it is a penalty --defender played the ball and Griezmann fell over him afterwards ---he felt contact ---so, in FIFA's attempts to eliminate all physical contact --they have to give a penalty! Pathetic.

He was always taking a risk tackling from behind in the penalty area.
