Burnley. After same players they were after a month ago. In fact the same players they have been after for last two years. Nothing new.

Nothing we didn't know. It's got us where we are now the way we work is just fine.
Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
Fairly poor if we're still after players after two years, you'd like to think we'd either move on or stump up some cash considering how rich we are and our net transfer profit from last season meaning Dyche didn't even have a 'transfer budget' as such
Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
Guys when will u be happy ? Y overspend? Players are worth what a club will pay ... just like a house worth what some 1 will pay . If we bought jay and his mate would you expect to finish higher ... I wouldn’t !!? Y spend millions for the same net result ... madness! If it was your cash would u?

I have a feeling he's right and if we don't sign JRod or Dawson then we won't sign anyone and we'll go with our current squad. There are very few rumours out there and most of them are obvious but without substance like Ings from LPool.

FFS when was the last time we didn’t sign one player during a summer? Heard it all now, literally what will be will be. All we know is that the board and management will not jepodise our club for the sake of instant gratification (betting the ranch). We should be pleased about that, I am.
I think we’ll sign 3-4 players this summer to continue that slow evolvement that is serving us so well. UTC

Alan Nixon breaks silence? He's a journalist. He's never silent.
Anyway, if the "breaking news" is that Burnley are carrying on as they are now, I'm not going to get upset. I'll leave that to people who are unhappy with the last few years' performances.

CTs PL signing sticky.

Lots of clubs with zero signings and a lot of the signings are squad fodder or unknowns in PL.
Nothing to worry about here.

It's amusing how many space fillers in the summer are articles about clubs being in for former players. It'd be interesting to see how many turn out to be accurate - not very many.

Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
I got Bardsley/Taylor/Wells and Wood right a few days before they signed and knew about some of them long before Nixon. He did know about Wells but wouldn't name him. We were on the Spurs trip when he kept going on about an unnamed striker. I've said, he does have good knowledge, but let's not praise him for things that he didn't know or just got from others at the 11th hour.claretcarrot93 wrote:He got Bardsley/Taylor/Wells and Wood all right. Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
To suggest a 'superb transfer policy' is not looking beyond the premier league and championship where you find massively inflated prices and wages is frankly ridiclous. If we don't want to spend big amounts of money that's fine, but you have to look abroad, because over here you pay for what you get, look at Stoke demanding 50m for Butland, Fulham wanting 30m+ for Cairney and a few years ago Real Madrid paid less for Toni Kroos than Leicester just have for James Maddison. Our supposed European scouting network needs to start paying dividens, look at Pascall Gross for example at Brighton, one of the best new signings in the league last season and cost I believe 3m, there are far better deals to be had abroad as opposed to keeping the same targets for 2 years and evidently getting no where with them. That is what I actually want. Just because we had an incrdibly successful season which like all Burnley fans I am delighted with, doesn't mean everything with the club and especially the transfer policy is spot on, things can stil be improved.ClaretTony wrote:Oh dear, seventh in the Premier League, the club on the up, a superb transfer policy, and because Nixon opens his gob someone suggests we are fairly poor. Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
The transfer system is working and is improving all the time. The way Dyche works is getting as much information as possible about a player. One of our strengths is the dressing room and that's been nurtured by a manager who ensures he brings the right player in. It's more difficult with players who haven't played in England. Look at the deal for the Polish winger, it was Dyche who pulled the plug on that one in the end because he could foresee problems with him.Tuddybfc wrote:To suggest a 'superb transfer policy' is not looking beyond the premier league and championship where you find massively inflated prices and wages is frnkly ridiclous. I want a transfer policy that is best for our squad and I think Dyche has done that brilliantly. We've improved significantly in terms of bringing players in and I'm happy for it to continue the way it has been doing.

It seems clear that Dawson wants to come to Burnley
He has refused to go to Portugal this week along with Foster.
He lives in the Heywood area and Burnley would be the perfect fit.
WBA are holding out for a big fee but if we sit tight they will have to accept a more realistic fee

Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
It justs leaves us in a difficult position between doing intense amounts of research to fit the dressing room best but with those players more than likely paying well over the odds for their services, that's why we're stuck on the same targets for the past 2 years as Nixon has said. I agree that looking so deeply into a player is largely effective, but if it leaves us only 2 injuries off playing Charlie Taylor or Jack Cork at centre back, i'd say we need plans A, B, C and D, something Burnley never seem to have, it always seem like if we won't pay a fee for a player we seem a bit lost rather than moving onto another target.ClaretTony wrote:The transfer system is working and is improving all the time. Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
It would leave us in a very difficult position if we brought the wrong players in and it destroyed the dressing room. Dyche has already admitted we were a central defender short and I expect that to be rectified this summer. He had to give Tarkowski his opportunity though and look how that's worked out. Being a central defender short happened, that was very much the manager's decision. It is not a reflection on the transfer policy.Tuddybfc wrote:It justs leaves us in a diffuclut position between doing intense amounts of research to fit the dressing room best but with those players more than likely paying well over the odds for their services, that's why we're stuck on the same targets for the past 2 years as Nixon has said. Do you seriously think we seem a bit lost if we won't pay a fee for one particular player? Do you seriously think we don't have plans beyond one player? Those sort of comments I find totally astonishing. If that was the case, I doubt we'd be anywhere near the Premier League.

Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
I was suggesting more as cover for Tarky and Mee, and we only have one, who in my opinion is not a premier league standard player anyway. And yes I do feel like that, because otherwise surely we wouldn't be hanging onto targets for the past two years. Also look how we struggled a few years ago in centre midfield because we were hung up on Lansbury, then Bryson prior to him, and Stephens after him, we ended up playing Jones and Arfield in centre midfield for half a season! (We had never won a game starting Arfield in centre midfield at this point) This happened because it appeared we didn't have a plan BClaretTony wrote:It would leave us in a very difficult position if we brought the wrong players in and it destroyed the dressing room. The vicar will know more on Dawson than I do though, and I do think a return to the NW would suit him.
Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
Same targets for 2 years because we haven’t been willing to pay the ever increasing fees for them. I imagine there’ll be an interview bemoaning the inflated market along any time soon. I get this “we don’t want to be ripped off” mentality, and I agree with it, but if that’s the case than either we’re going to have to compromise on quality or look abroad.

Bloody hell - do you start looking for us in League Two? We certainly didn't end up playing Jones & Arfield in midfield after Stephens because that was only two years ago. if you seriously think we get hung up on players to that degree, then I'll leave it. Re: Alan Nixon breaks silence on our transfers
Hence why i said Stephens was later on, like I said Bryson was earlier. The point i was making is Lansbury wasn’t a one off, we have a habit of getting stuck on targets but not having a plan B, which when Marney got injured, left us desperately short in a particular postionClaretTony wrote:Bloody hell - do you start looking for us in League Two?
