Danny Wellbeck still in the world cup when Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez, Diego Costa have all gone.
And the world cup may final may be contested between Martinez and Southgate.
Oh and Maradonnas gone and Gazza is still there.

Re: World cup thread
Jenas spot on with comparing Sweden to Burnley. 4-4-2, fit, great team spirit, tight framework, put loads of blocks in, force teams to go on the outside and cross the ball in, where they have excellent and tall central defenders.
I hope it turns into a EPL type game - I think we might prevail then.

England v Sweden 3pm BBC... Oh no Sterling starts! would have liked him on the bench and brought on later if needed for his undoubted speed.

To counter Stirling playing they have, very kindly, selected Seb Larsonn and Lindelhof.

The Croatian President is a bit tasty. How come there were no English dignitaries present this afternoon?

Re: World cup thread
Both these teams had extra time and pens in their last match. They're dead on their feet at the end of extra time in this one. If it goes to Extra time on Wednesday then England will have a huge advantage since they are far better rested. Especially since neight of them rested their key players in their final group game.Spijed wrote:I don't think it really matters.

Re: World cup thread
Croatia win on pens or rather Russia looses it by pens not a great game but certainly exciting till the end, would rather face the Russians but I didn't rate the Croatian defenders on crosses so that will suit England.

That is not her of course but an actress lookalike.
An interesting fact for you. Gareth Southgate is older now than Alf Ramsay was in 1966.

Re: World cup thread
It won’t happen, you don’t change a winning team, but Sterling has been the point of our attack and Kane has been playing as the 10. I’d play Kane up front with Sterling in behind, where he can make full use of his pace by carrying the ball instead of harrying defenders.
Just a thought.xx
