Ings and Trippier left. A defender and a striker.jojomk1 wrote:Just because WBA have been relegated, it doesn't follow that they are going to go into "Sale" mode
Just go back a couple of years when we were relegated - we kept our squad together and even added to it with the signing of Gray and others resulting in immediate promotion back up (it worked for us and maybe they think the same)
So Dawson makes it plain he wants to leave but they hold his contract and you can't blame them for trying to get the max money if other clubs are showing interest
Dawson offers us more than one option - a good CB or RB with plenty of Premier League experience in both positions
That's got to be worth at least £15m in today's market - is he so much more inferior to Ben Mee who I bet we would value at at least £25m
Burnley set to 'break club record' transfer fee

Yeah but those two left and we couldn't do anything about it, I'm sure if we had them fully contracted (Ings) without release clause (tripps) then we'd have hung in there and demanded big money.Pearcey wrote:Ings and Trippier left. A defender and a striker.

Firstly, I assume the Chairman is the guy doing all of our negotiations regarding fees and wages
Similar to Levy at Spurs whom I take he has met and talked with on numerous occasions at Prem League meetings (maybe trying to emulate his type/style of controls within a club)
MG has already spoken in the press of expecting to spend more this year, than last, on transfer budgets.
Given we made a small profit on transfer fees last year, and I fully expect any increase in wage spend (on new v outgoing players only) to be part of said budget, that won't be so much of a total spend to surpass this season
Whilst the club remains in a fantastic financial situation the credit for that rests as much, if not more, with the tactical success SD has brought in, as well as any financial decisions made by MG and his board
My concern is that SD made his priorities on player signings known early (if not before last season finished) and we still appear to be no further on
Yes, there are still some weeks before the window closes but pre season training (inc tactical formations) is now well underway and the manager must have hoped to get some additions in by now
Perhaps the recent comments by SD are a timely reminder to the Chairman that he has the full control in getting any deals over the line fairly quickly now
