Hayfever

Can anybody recommend any good hayfever medication? early June it was chronic maybe grass pollen I’ve been on cetirizine hydrochloride 1 a day religiously, it’s ok now has been for a week maybe the medication has started working or the pollen count has dropped, do you need the medication in your system pre-June or a different medication altogether. Thanks.

Beconase Nasal Spray has been great for me ever since I started taking it. Be careful with some other brands as they can leave a horrible after taste.

Agree. Beconase spray is the best thing I have found. I use it from April til end July, helps a lot.

Just what the old timers say. I tend to believe them more than newspapers that sometimes try and influence opinion, especially when big pharmaceutical companoes are involved.

But I don't have hayfever so good luck with what you choose.

Loratadine is an antihistamine medicine that relieves the symptoms of allergies. It’s used to treat hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis (red, itchy eye), eczema and hives. It’s also used for reactions to insect bites and stings and for some food allergies.

Loratadine is known as a non-drowsy antihistamine. It's much less likely to make you feel sleepy than some other antihistamines.

Loratadine is available on prescription. You can also buy it from pharmacies and supermarkets.

It comes as tablets or as a liquid that you swallow.

Check product number on all tablets. They usually match supermarket own brand with the expensive ones meaning they're the same tablet just different packaging.

Prices can certainly vary massively. I never get hayfever in Spain but as soon as I came to the UK recently it was horrendous. Found products as much as £15 in Holland & Barrett and some tablets for only £1 in Boots.

I’ve been using it twice a day recently where as normally I only use it once. It was strong yesterday! Think I used it three times which isn’t recommended!
