They are having to do it ‘Time team’ style because they and BFC have no idea what’s underneath

I thought building these new disabled seats is a time critical job?

Should have just tarted up the BLS and build disabled facilities in there. Would have been quicker and cheaper to

10 weeks behind schedule is the rumour.

I'm the operational manager of the Burnley Disabled Supporters Club and my grandfather is the chairman.

I've sent countless emails to the club last week for updates but received absolutely nothing back from them. We're still being told by the ticket office that we'll be in our seats from last season, even though our seats from last season are currently a pile of rubble.

I've requested some clarity as we have members with conditions, of which uncertainty is detrimental to their mental well being and they'll almost certainly miss games due to these delays.

We do have 3 members attended the game a Pittodorie on Thursday, which was a massive achievement for us, in an organisational sense.

So, basically, you had really poor facilities prior to these building works. Now you have no facilities and a club that wont tell you what is happening or what to expect this coming season.

Not too good is it?

Won't the supporters just sit along the side of the pitch, by the Bob Lord Stand, where they currently, do until its finished?

I was told on Friday that the club would be giving an update this week but I walked past both corners last Thursday and they didn't look any different to how they looked when I took the pics shown further up the thread around a month ago.

Pretty poor from the club is this. They need to realise the good times won't last forever. When all the Premiership fans disappear they'll be back to relying on the 10 thousand or so diehards, who they seem to be treating worse and worse.

I don't understand that post. There are delays in building new facilities for the disabled supporters in those two corners. If the club have got anything wrong here it is a lack of communication as to why there are delays.

I've heard a rumour (not sure go true) that when they were digging they found "The Bee"

In the 1990s when they were building the Jimmy Mc stand they disturbed The Bee and it wasn't happy. As part of a treaty it was agreed never to disturb it again. Lone behold the treaty paperwork got lost (used as spare paper when the ticket machine ran out of paper apparently!)

Apparantley it's kicking off big time about it's hole being disturbed again and is threatening to unleash carnage around town unless it gets a new place to live. Some talks are happening about using some old mines in Hapton but they are not sure how they can trust The Bee to move without kicking off.

So apparently it's all about the bee hole being disturbed and now it's a stand off. Nothing to do with the weather!!!

When I went past last week it looked like those Roman ruins that you see in Paphos. They have apparently had major unforseen problems when they excavated the foundations and they look like they have a speciality foundations company on the case. However only appeared to be 3 or 4 workers working on the job.
The Beehole end was so named after the coal mine that was located at that end of the ground...wonder if they have struck a rich seam of coal and will not continue until it is all removed and put into the new black coal store. :D

Burnley Football Club and poor communication? Two things which fit together like hand in glove.

unless the individual that deals with emails is on holiday or off sick, it is inexcusable, if that isnt the case, then they are in the wrong job and someone should be getting a ********* for it.

Myself and my grandfathers seat, along with another one of our members seats were attached to the police box which has now been demolished. There are no spare seats in front of the bob lord if all season tickets were renewed.

We're a major company with a turnover of £100+ million and yet it wouldn't surprise me if the person who deals with e-mails is on holiday or something equally ridiculously small time. The club might be premier league quality on the pitch, but off it they aren't anywhere close.

If it was work on the hospitality boxes or somewhere that affected the bigwigs I'd wager the club would be in more of a hurry to get it sorted.

Yep communications has been poor but I think the post was also referring to the fact that the management of the building work has also been poor and surely that is the responsibility of the football club ultimately.

From what I have heard it has not been managed well at all....both in terms of timescales and the significant increase in the estimated costs of the work.

Do you know whether the club will be subject to any fines from the FA for not meeting any deadlines for meeting their requirements for disabled fans ?

The club were very keen to refurb the lounges in the BL as soon as the season ended, and I’d wager they aren’t running behind schedule.

Of course, there’s no issue with the club looking to increase corporate revenue streams, but there isn’t anything like parity in the facilities on offer across the board. Would there be broken hand dryers and dirty toilets in the Chairman’s lounge?

For too long, the ordinary fan and especially the disabled have been an after thought. And now we hear that the corner stands are significantly behind schedule, and there’s zero communication to those now affected.

For any club, but especially one in the PL, its a ******* disgrace, and BFC should be ashamed.

Interesting input from through the Disabled Ops guy..... I wonder if his grandfather "approved" his post, or his lamented since its posting. Using social media as leverage is a modern weapon, but it can also destroy working relationships, so as Chairman, I wonder where this revelation has left Granddad in a working sense. Of course it may be considered there's no relationship to put at risk

Not as far as I know. They put a door from the old directors' lounge into the Harry Potts but didn't refurbish. Last summer they moved the directors' lounge into a newly furbished area.

The interior work being carried out at Turf Moor is mainly so we can meet UEFA regulations for host clubs in the Europa League.

The corner with the pit remnants will have to wait for an archaeological report and permit. They may insist on the whole thing being cantilevered over the remains or that the artifacts are taken away for storage or display. No reason they couldn't crack on with the other corner though unless there is more stuff there or the building permit is for both facilities together rather than 2 individual permits.

There is certainly work being done at upstairs in the Bob Lord but it will not be the Director's Lounge. Not a fan of the neutral lounge they've created, the only BFC related item in there is the stuffed cat.

It was upside down when I went in a couple of weeks ago,I presumed it was related to the disabled section.

There's obviously a problem with the ground conditions as has been discussed earlier. It must be quite localised or it would have been flagged up when the Jimmy Mac was built.

Actually, it’s excellent to see supporters who are showing total solidarity with the plight of our disabled fans.

We’ve been campaigning for years for better facilities. We endure snow, rain and sub zero temperatures to watch Burnley without proper cover.

Some of our members endure great physical pain to get to games in these conditions and the club have made promises which have been broken.

But, aside from the above, their silence regarding progress and where we’ll be seated, in as soon as just over a week, is terrible.
