That would be the single most surprising thing i'd heard in many, many a year joey.
Dyche RUNS our football team, and has a massive amount of responsibility in other areas. Does anyone REALLY think he isn't THE major player on the recruitment team?

More attractive than Fulham ? How do you work that out ? They can offer him London (where he is from), probably much higher wages than us, a board that is considerably backing the manager with some superb signings.bartons baggage wrote:Yeah iv'e seen the Fulham link, but i think we have a better chance of landing him.

Because it is their policies that you seem to think he is frustrated with. What I am saying is that the reason he might not say anything is that he might just be bought into it. He might be in agreement with them, that it is the right policy for our club.KRBFC wrote:He's never going to come out and say that is he? why would he be at odds with the chairman or directors?
We have operated this way for the last few years and the fact he hasn’t left might just suggest he is happy with how we do our business?

Yes I think he is frustrated, as we all are, but he understands and, my personal belief, has played a big part in our recruitment policy.KRBFC wrote:I think he's frustrated with the way it's worked out in the market, it comes across in his interviews. I think he puts great emphasis on not having any huge disparities in the wages we offer players.
Fingers crossed we have one or two new faces in soon.
Re: Nixon news tomorrow
It seems obvious that the Manager and Chairman have a good working relationship and a close understanding of how the club works. Dyche has hinted more than once that Burnley are 'in the market' and intend to sign some new players. Dyche knows the type of player he wants and I'd be amazed if the Chairman was not trying hard to meet his manager's criteria.
There must be demands on a Chairman over and above signing players.
Some of the clubs who have spent big ( aside from the top six,) have hardly set the football world alight with established 'big names.'

For those who are interested, Mike Garlick did an interview around the end of last season. He spoke of the club's approach to recruitment and everything related to recruitment. There was a thread on here around the time.

Re: Nixon news tomorrow
As the chairman expects the club breaking it s transfer record and that being the going rate for PL players. I would imagine 3 players equates to £60m plus wages. I can't see more than 3 coming in. Whether any of them get a game is open to debate.
Re: Nixon news tomorrow
Dawson not in the West Brom squad for their friendly today. He’s going this week, but is it to us? Jay was on the bench. West Brom will drop their price as the window gets closer. I think both deals will happen, but both need to get close this week. Would imagine we’ll end up with 3 signings to replace the players that left. Forward, CB, and a CM/wide player.

Lee Trundle. The best Player Burnley never Bought.
Last club Llanelli Town 2016-18 he scored a massive 68 goals in 45 games.
Now signed for Haverford West
He's now 41, matured nicely and deserves a chance I think. He'd do a great job for us.

I think it's just as likely we end up with a couple of panic buys, a la Nahki Wells.
Re: Nixon news tomorrow
We seem to go year after year without really committing vast sums of money, as "the min targets become unavailable " so presumably what we did not spend of the forecast transfer fee alone, then gets banked at some considerable interest rate. so if this is correct, and taking in to account the success of last year, surely we have a massive transfer kitty (transfer fee only) to play with?

Don't want to rain on your parade but it's not that simple, there are still transfer instalments to pay, bonuses to the players and staff, and normal running costs, ground improvements etc,OH! yes also the taxman to pay and any other outgoings.ClaretAL wrote:We seem to go year after year without really committing vast sums of money, as "the min targets become unavailable " so presumably what we did not spend of the forecast transfer fee alone, then gets banked at some considerable interest rate. so if this is correct, and taking in to account the success of last year, surely we have a massive transfer kitty (transfer fee only) to play with?
Even if for the sake of argument we had a kitty of say 100 million for transfers,we would still have wages to factor into the equation, and these are a longer commitment usually 3 years minimum, the board are ultra cautious for a reason,if we go down the salaries still have to be financed, although i would guess most if not all the squad have relegation clauses inserted which cushions the financial impact.
Re: Nixon news tomorrow
Nixon apparently said that we want better players but aren't prepared to pay the going rate in wages. If that's the case then there is a bit of naivety in our transfer dealings.tiger76 wrote:Don't want to rain on your parade but it's not that simple, there are still transfer instalments to pay, bonuses to the players and staff, and normal running costs, ground improvements etc,OH! yes also the taxman to pay and any other outgoings.

Silly to write Nakhi Wells off. He came to us overcoming an operation, and therefore not fully fit. He had to compete with 3 very good strikers, 2 of whom were having great seasons. His cameo at the end of last season show he is a good footballer. His attitude in interviews show he isn't frightened of fighting for a place. I don't think we can judge him until he's had a good run in the starting XI. I wouldn't class him as a panic buy at all, but a squad player waiting for the opportunityjrgbfc wrote:I think it's just as likely we end up with a couple of panic buys, a la Nahki Wells.

Time to scout abroad,Dawson,Clucas,Mawson,Rodriguez all went down to the Championship with thier respective clubs and 75 million is being banded about as the price for them....much more value to be had abroad....we must have some other targets than these four.....can i say it ??last seasons losers.

I don't mind Crouch, although we have no need for another target man. Just the underlying feel.of are we so 'cheap. All that money and too frightened to spend it.
I agree, and always have, with the way the club has done it's business. But players are overpriced, and they are mostly over paid. Unless we can accept that as a fact and join the party, we are in danger of blowing the last 5 years.
I know the season hasn't kicked off yet, but we look in disarray, on and off the pitch, with injuries, fitness levels, form and transfer dealings. We don't want to play catch up in the Premiership because that would really leave us with a hill possibly too steep to climb.
