The advertisements at the top of the message board have also gone and replaced with a sad face

Re: Problems with images
Yep, same problem here. Tried different browsers, using the mobile version and also logging out to see it was something in my user settings, but it's still the same. Can't see most images.

If you're having trouble viewing images i've found this guide on how to access your phone or PC's internet settings to ensure that they display properly

Re: Problems with images
Same for me, although I'm on holiday and using my mobile and 4G - thought it was something to do with that.
The advert banner for me says, "UNABLE TO CONNECT, Problem with images"

Still same
Re: Problems with images
Also, whenever I open a thread, any thread, the content of that thread is 99% horseshit.

Re: Problems with images
Looking at it, the IP of the images all seem to be pointing at 127.0.0.1 which is the loopback to your own computer. Looks like some settings have been screwed up which mean that it thinks the images are being hosted locally.

Re: Problems with images
Maybe they were all images of footballs who have gained sentience and the ad server was how they intended to reach localhost. Then when England got knocked out they gave up.aggi wrote:Looking at it, the IP of the images all seem to be pointing at 127.0.0.1 which is the loopback to your own computer. Re: Problems with images
I too have the problem - have we had the much vaunted - long awaited update yet - the one that was supposed to deal with the high level of users on Transfer Deadline day or after matches - if so didn't help on Thursday as access was awful

Re: Problems with images
It's not a mod issue to be fair but I hadn't seen the thread until now and only just become aware of the photo issue. It requires some work being done on the board and until then I'd suggest not posting pics.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Presumably mods are having similar issues and struggling to see this thread...
On the subject of Euro pics from Aberdeen, I did ask (can't find the thread now) posters to send them in so we could have a feature on the site. That would ensure they wouldn't later be deleted or archived off. I didn't receive any at all.
Re: Problems with images

It's a local issue - online hosted images are fine. Just upload to IMGUR and share the image from there instead.

Or just put them on dropbox, and copy the URL and put surround it by IMG tags (you need to add &raw=1 to the end of the URL).

Re: Problems with images
it was always a bad idea to allow users to upload images to the UTC server and then have them be downloaded every single time a user refreshes the page. Often these images can be HD images from phones and are quite heavy. That's **** for both users browsing on their phones, and for the site itself since it takes longer to load these pages.cold claret wrote:Why can i not see the photos from Aberdeen? It's been one of my two pet peeves since the site started. That and no support for html5 videos.

Re: Problems with images
Is this now resolved? Ads are back online...
Re: Problems with images
This is the first time I've seen this thread. The hosting company got upset with us during the first leg of the Aberdeen tie and decided to reduce the traffic by blocking certain things on the site. The ads disappeared because of that and the image issue could well be related too. I've got a new dedicated server lined up and I'm serving the local ads from there but because the url is different the other ads don't work so they've been removed from the top banner. I haven't seen any reports of people saying, hey the sites working really well on my iphone which should be the case because there are no ads to cause problems.
I'm waiting for an opportune moment to get everything across to the new server but with the schedule we have at the moment it's a bit tight. The domain name transfer could take anywhere between an hour and 24 hours. I'm thinking that early tomorrow morning might be the best time to get things switched over. I'll post something later giving more details when the migration is going to take place.

Html5 videos please. Imagine being able to serve HD goals videos in file sizes smaller than SD GIFs.dibraidio wrote:This is the first time I've seen this thread. Edut:in fact you wouldn't even be serving them, they'd be hotlinked from gyfcat

If I was 10ft tall that would have gone over my head but with your past record of getting highlights up quick I’ll second it.Imploding Turtle wrote:Html5 videos please. Imagine being able to serve HD goals videos in file sizes smaller than SD GIFs.

Re: Problems with images
Dibraidio - given the number of dropouts in the last 10 mins I take it that the server upgrade didn't happen - going to be a tough week - hope you find time to schedule soon - not a complaint just keen to see the forum grow along with the club
