That really is overreaction!

Jesus Christ. Wish the transfer window would just close now - we’re clearly not interested.Grumps wrote:Just buy the paper.....want clucas on the cheap, vokes is 10m and wells 5m
What about 4 matches. Brady and Defour yet to kick a ball, Pope injured and unable to beat a bang average Aberdeen with our strongest available team.Spijed wrote:Based on what? One game against Aberdeen?

Ah yes, pre-season matches are an accurate measure for where we’re up to.piston broke wrote:What about 4 matches. Brady and Defour yet to kick a ball, Pope injured and unable to beat a bang average Aberdeen with our strongest available team.
If Danny Ings is being touted at 20 million and Bamford has just been sold for 7 million we should be looking at more than 10 million for Sam.Spijed wrote:If Vokes is for sale at £10 million that clearly indicates we are certainly going to get a replacement otherwise we wouldn't let him leave.

Taio you are very positive.taio wrote:What about 4 matches?
Brady has kicked a ball
Unfortunate about Pope but these things happen
1-1 a decent result

Transfer window - I'd have hoped to have made signings by now. But I recoginse the difficulties of the market for us. So I'll wait until the window closes. If we haven't signed anyone at that point I'll be very critical. But I believe we will bring players (plural) in.RVclaret wrote:Taio you are very positive.
What are your thoughts on our transfer window and lack of activity? And now being linked with Peter Crouch?
Which bits are very positive?RVclaret wrote:Taio you are very positive.

Just in general around the forum always turning negatives into positives - not a bad thing.taio wrote:Which bits are very positive?
Much of this I will agree with if things are still the same in a couple of weeks time. I don't want us to do business for the sake of it to show intent, and we'll agree to disagree about whether the market is easy or a challenge for us.RVclaret wrote:Just in general around the forum always turning negatives into positives - not a bad thing.
The one comment I don't agree with, though, is the 'market is tough for us' comment re. our lack of activity.
Even the likes of Huddersfield, Brighton, Cardiff and Newcastle (who are all on relative par with us budget wise) have managed to business. Not saying their signings will all be amazing and keep them up but at least its showing intent.
We have (so far) failed to continue our excellent momentum from last season into this (pre) season. Although this pre-season should, IMO, have been treated as the start of our season with the Europa.
Having said that, like yourself I will judge once the window has closed but if we fail to bring in a CB, number 10 and winger it will have been a failure. With the clock ticking I'm not convinced we will land all them three.
Are you one of the fannies Beamish was aluding to?piston broke wrote:What about 4 matches. Brady and Defour yet to kick a ball, Pope injured and unable to beat a bang average Aberdeen with our strongest available team.
If we've got to personal terms that's progress surely, sounds promising Swansea clearly have to trim their squad, think this one will happen.Reecey1987 wrote:Nixon said the crouch thing isnt his story and there is ongoing thing with clucas and personal terms
I agree with the rest but crouch is 38 in january if we have gone from jay rod to crouch there is something seriously wrong . I know he has never had pace but he will be a downgrade in my opinion if it turns out to be correcttiger76 wrote:If we've got to personal terms that's progress surely, sounds promising Swansea clearly have to trim their squad, think this one will happen.
At the end of this window if we have recruited
Clucas
Crouch
And one of Dawson/Mawson
That will pass muster,a winger would be a bonus, but not something i'd expect.
That would be a crap window. All our current strikers (apart from Wells) are hoofball goalscorers. We need alternative striker options with pace.tiger76 wrote:If we've got to personal terms that's progress surely, sounds promising Swansea clearly have to trim their squad, think this one will happen.

I agree but beggars can't be choosers i guess, ideally we should be looking to move on one of Walters/Wells,i can't see both getting game time of the pair Wells is more likely to play,so Walters can go for me.Reecey1987 wrote:I agree with the rest but crouch is 38 in january if we have gone from jay rod to crouch there is something seriously wrong . For what its worth i still think we will get jay rod . I know he said he didnt want to kick up a fuss and put a transfer request in the longer this drama carries on he may change his mindtiger76 wrote:I agree but beggars can't be choosers i guess, ideally we should be looking to move on one of Walters/Wells,i can't see both getting game time of the pair Wells is more likely to play,so Walters can go for me.
Obviously you don't watch us much if you think we only play hoofball!Steddyman wrote:All our current strikers (apart from Wells) are hoofball goalscorers.
I think we need a fanny list to run next to the prick list.Steve1956 wrote:Are you one of the fannies Beamish was aluding to?
We lost Arfield and GKN in the summer. Even if it's only back-up, we could do with another.Spijed wrote:Why do we need another winger when we've got Brady JBG and Lennon?
Erm, Vokes goal against Aberdeen wasn't hoofball.Steddyman wrote:That would be a crap window. All our current strikers (apart from Wells) are hoofball goalscorers. We need alternative striker options with pace.
I get the feeling he doesn't watch us at all.Spijed wrote:Obviously you don't watch us much if you think we only play hoofball!
It would be very similar to my MoanersXI from a couple of years back.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:I think we need a fanny list to run next to the prick list.

Bit like Brady with Hull & Norwich then?HiroshimaClaret wrote:Wasn`t Clucas a key player in two teams that have just been relegated? Can I be any less `whelmed` then `underwhelmed`?
Brady at least shone. Clucas is more of a pound shop bulb (in my opinion).claret10 wrote:Bit like Brady with Hull & Norwich then?
No signings won’t improve it either!UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:Crouch, Clucas and Dawson would very underwhelming window.
It doesn't improve our first 11 at all.
