Actually no, why should it? If it's voiced as opinion why should someone be punished for it? Are we going down the line of preventing people from saying something because somebody else gets offended. If we carry on no-one will be able to voice an opinion other than the official line. I believe Israel is a hate-filled, racist, terrorist nation - am I guilty of hate crime? I've said this so many times and I'll never stop saying it, people have a right to voice an opinion however misguided and ill-judged it might be. Only then can you have a dialogue that may change that opinion. I believe in free speech and if that speech is considered 'offensive' then let the 'offended have the argument. Too many people get offended on other people's behalf and then try to silence others because they disagree.Spijed wrote:So Holocaust denial shouldn't be treated seriously then?
Just to clear a couple of things up before people start the usual jumping to conclusions:
I believe the holocaust happened - no denial here.
I am not anti-Semitic - just anti-Israel - I've known many Jews and liked pretty much all of them.

Holocaust denial is not a crime in the UK. Nor should it be. While some holocaust deniers may well have other views which make them worth keeping an eye on, the exercise of free speech to profess disagreement with the received "official" history of any period should not be illegal.Spijed wrote:So Holocaust denial shouldn't be treated seriously then?

For the first time in my life, I'm on Corbyn's side. In fact, they've already gone too far kowtowing to a Jewish lobby that simultaneously wants Jewry and Israel separated when commenting (quite rightly) but wants Israel to get special treatment... because they're Jews. No whataboutery regarding Corbyn's views on Hamas or pointing out (correctly) that his position is more about one of his core constituencies that is antipathetic to both Jews and Israel changes the fact that Jewish interests and Israel want special treatment on their own and each other's behalf.tiger76 wrote:Jewish Press going hard on Labour tomorrow https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-44957906 this issue won't go away for Corbyn.

More internal problems for Labourhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-44997634 Dudley North is a hyper-marginal held by just 22 votes in 2017,not the sort of seat you want adverse publicity or infighting,it will be the number one Conservative target, whenever the next General Election is.
