Who went to the last one?
against Eintracht Frankfurt? April 1967, I'd just turned 15, was at school in Salford and lived in North Manchester. Thought the hard bit had been done after the 1-1 in Germany. I turned up expecting a victory especially after the way we had played on that unforgettable night at home to Napoli. Rather naively I expected the atmosphere of that night to be replicated but it just didn't happen. The Napoli game was played on a wet, muddy pitch still in the midst of winter with our fans really up for the tie; this game was played well into Spring on a dry, cool evening that just didn't seem to lend itself to the noise, commotion and fervour of the previous tie.
Very disappointed with the outcome but I fully expected us to be involved again soon because I'd been pretty much spoilt by us since my first ever game back in 1958. For many reasons yet to unfold it wasn't going to happen though.
Anyone else with recollections?

I was ten and stood in the bee hole end. The sun was that bright setting over the cricketfield end I couldn't see a damn thing. The boys at school that day found it most amusing to find their goalkeepers name was Peter Kunter.....dilly dilly.

Me too. Also went home and away to Rheims and Hamburg and if you had told me ten years ago that we would be playing in Europe again I would have laughed at you.
Looking forward to tonight and am going to hit the road in the next half hour. Hoping for the best!

I was in the Cricket Field. I, too, was also there for Reims and Hamburg plus all the others. Unfortunately, living abroad, I won't be there tonight, though I will be watching in my local with plenty of other Clarets. Make some noise tonight boys and get behind the team from the kick off. Utc

Re: Who went to the last one?
I certainly did with few memories even after 51 years.
Brian O,Neil as a lone striker with high balls being pumped up to him.......didn't work I'm afraid
The German left back Loltz I think with a terrific left foot shot on him well used in front of me in my spot on the old enclosure at the BH end
And I think Burnley wore pale blue shorts for the first-time that I saw anyway
My Dad far from happy with the tactics
Have said for most of the intervening years "I once saw Burnley play in Europe" well another 15 to 20000 can say the same after tonight

Re: Who went to the last one?
Durham was there, but living with mum and dad in Skipton at the time.
I remember their goalkeepers name was a great amusement to a 12 year old.
Do you remember his name ?
Kunter (also the r was silent in the German pronouciation)
The chant from the cricket field shed was funny, "Kunters a **nt
