Did you want Feyenoord because you want us out of it early? Looking at it that is one of the last ones I'd want.gandhisflipflop wrote:Avoided the 2 sides i didnt want. Braga and zenit. Didnt draw the side i wanted feyernoord but this is a tough draw.

Is this a wind up?Rileybobs wrote:Just booked flights and accommodation in Athens. Hotel is next to the Parthenon so the club better make this the official meeting point and put shuttle buses on from there or I won’t be happy.

Exactly. Istanbul are a tougher side on paper. That said Olympiacos away will never be easy.CrosspoolClarets wrote:Unlike the Turks I cannot see why Olympiacos are one of the favourites - their squad is not full of expensive players and they only finished 3rd in a poor league. I fancy beating them more than beating Istanbul B, which with their pace I'm pessimistic about, but we'll see. It's their first competitive game.
Luzern would be great though. The first leg is before I fly to Portugal on holiday so I was hoping we would be at home second, which we are.
Gutted as I definitely wont be able to make this one if its Olympacos. If it was the other way round and home first could have done both legs.

Hopefully we get Lausanne as that will be easier to get to and if i cant I wouldnt be as gutted missing that as I will be Olympiacos.

Oi that's anti-symmetrical that!
Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
I'd prefer olympiacos to lose to the Swiss side. Wouldn't feel as bad flying home then. Still, watching the mighty clarets in a bar on the Greek islands is something we all could embrace. I will get Istanbul second leg whilst I'm there so not all bad.chekhov wrote:Look on the bright side karatekid. If we get knocked out by Basaksehir you can feel less gutted!

Definitely going to this one should we get there after missing out on Istanbul. Suppose Switzerland would be cheaper and easier to get to.

Agree that Switzerland would be easier and cheaper. Added to that, I think their fans are likely to be far more friendly, Olympiakos don't have the best of reputations. Living in Kent we could drive to Luzern (Lucerne) in under 11 hours!jrgbfc wrote:Definitely going to this one should we get there after missing out on Istanbul. Olympiacos will be more popular than istanbul. But ironically be a lot more hostile in AthensTonbridgeClaret wrote:Agree that Switzerland would be easier and cheaper. No i wanted feyernoord as it is easy to get to and a good sized ground with a propper atmosphere. I am not doubting their ability.

Not quite, it's got an odd edge to it.Falcon wrote:Oi that's anti-symmetrical that!
*For what it's worth (on a semi-serious note) for anyone who might seriously think I'm being anti-symmetrical (nice one) I'm not. Jews are fine people but I consider Israel a dangerous terrorist nation.
The last club I would want in Europe is an Israeli club (they aren't even in bloody Europe so why are they in it).
Who mentioned the Eurovision?

I know what you mean mate and it's what playing in Europe is all about but I'd prefer to get the big clubs in the groups stages. I'm hoping for an Italian trip at some point to be honest.gandhisflipflop wrote:No i wanted feyernoord as it is easy to get to and a good sized ground with a propper atmosphere. Switzerland might be slightly cheaper to get to but wait well you get there and see the prices. You'll have to take out a mortgage for a beer.jrgbfc wrote:Definitely going to this one should we get there after missing out on Istanbul. Suppose Switzerland would be cheaper and easier to get to.

Re: Europa League Play Off Draw - Monday
We've got Aberdeen which was so close the tickets sold out straight away, then two teams at the arse end of Europe where flights alone are £300+
Only saving grace is we missed Kazakhstan and Russia.
We best get a group with Belgians, Austrians and Spanish.
