If this is the ticket collection, do we know whereabouts the fan meet up area is? Must be walking distance to the hotel I presume?cricketfieldclarets wrote:That's where we are all collecting tickets from.

I assume they will accept photocopies of your passports when picking tickets up. I don’t wanna carry my passport round all day cos when I wake up on Friday I won’t have a passport anymore.

I know for sure that in France and Germany at least, you are required to carry your passport at all times (I've been caught out in both countries). Can't imagine that Turkey would be more relaxed especially in the current political climate. In any case I'd have thought you'd need id. in case of security checks at the stadium?cricketfieldclarets wrote:Bumbag or not. I am not taking my passport out with me. Never do abroad. Are driving licenses counted as ID these days? I went to a gig in Berlin recently and they wouldnt accept a Driving License. Same when Ive been to the States picking up tickets.

Re: Hotel blue house istanbul - ticket collections
Details of a bar near Sultanahmet Square that will welcome Burnley supporters-
Omar Restaurant - Address: Alemdar Mahallesi 8 Şeftali Sokak 34110 Fatih/İstanbul
Right in the heart of old town, behind Underground Cistern across Hagia Sophia Museum. We put a Burnley flag in front of the restaurant. We know the guys no problem, so people can just chill and have pints there… actually far better than Taksim square with full of Arab tourists on these summer days…

The collection point is now just yards from my hotel and if the club do organise buses for 100% of fans it would reassure me a lot.
As it stands though my plans for the week have become more complicated so getting to Heathrow on Wednesday is now tricky, so whether I attend at all is up in the air. We’ll see.

Re: Hotel blue house istanbul - ticket collections
This is a regular tourist hotel in the old town, club must be staying wyndham hotel near the stadium. clubs which come to play against Basaksehir usually stay there. By the way, old town is around 30 kms to the stadium. I would recommend to depart from Sultanahmet square latest at 7 pm considering the traffic in huge Istanbul. Also, taxis in that area are not very friendly, it is also an area mostly closed to traffic, so at that time of the day it will be very difficult for you to find taxis. the ones who are ok to take you to the stadium, i wouldn't trust them in terms of money they will be asking. anyway, the location of the stadium is really rubbish.

Club needs to make provision to collect tickets at the ground. Crazy to drag people into the city and back out again if they don’t need to.

Re: Hotel blue house istanbul - ticket collections
There are fans flying in from all over the world.
Surely the Club staff can keep this ticket operation open until 30 minutes before kick off?
They will have been there on a paid for jolly for 48 hours to suss out how to get to the ground etc so the least that they can do is wait for all the fans to arrive for the bizarre way of ticket collection.

Absolutely. This was always an annoyance with England.scouseclaret wrote:Club needs to make provision to collect tickets at the ground. Crazy to drag people into the city and back out again if they don’t need to.
You are definitely going to the stadium. Doesn't mean you are definitely going to the city centre.
I know some who have booked hotels at the stadium I early did the same for convenience.

Re: Hotel blue house istanbul - ticket collections
Always going to annoy some but those who’ve followed England of late flagged this up. People stay in different towns or resorts but have to travel to a hotel in a centre, where they otherwise would have no reason to be.
Guess the staff at the hotel will be the same staff doing the spot checks? So need time to hotfoot it across to the ground to get position with their iPads to bust Burnley fans who have travelled to one of furthest Easterly points in Europe to the watch the clarets with the ‘wrong ticket’.

Why can't the club provide the option of picking up tickets at the ground, like up in Aberdeen?

Could do with knowing exactly where the coaches are going from and more importantly back to. I’m guessing we will be back north of midnight and I reckon a hotel near there is the best shout. Perhaps the club will announce today so I can have a hotel confirmed when I land tomorrow evening......

Re: Hotel blue house istanbul - ticket collections
Firstly, I am jealous. I wish I could afford the £500 + that this match will cost.
Have some people going read the FCO travel advice to Turkey?
The club's website does provide a link to this.
It does make it clear that you need to carry your passport at all times.
So apart from football related stabbings, terrorist attacks, going to fight for ISIS, military coups
and earthquakes, there is nothing to worry about.
Oh sorry yes there is, having to carry your passport at all times and pick your ticket up.
I thought BFC had made it clear, all along that you'd have to collect your ticket from a central location?
Enjoy the game.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Obviously not carrying a passport a passport would only present itself as a problem if you are stopped by the police and asked for your id.colne-claret wrote:Ive been Germany a few times and never carry my passport? Is that an actual thing?
Re: Hotel blue house istanbul - ticket collections
I don't think it is the case in Germany. It is the case in some countries though (Italy springs to mind), with Turkey being one of them. I guess it is probably those, like Italy, where there is a national ID card.colne-claret wrote:Ive been Germany a few times and never carry my passport? Is that an actual thing?

Still no confirmation of the coach start and end points which is relevant to the hotel being booked
