Burnley thoughts that pop into your head

Post by HiroshimaClaret » Sun Aug 19, 2018 1:55 pm

Desperately trying to get my 3 yr-old to sleep so I could watch the Watford game from the start (FAIL!) and whilst pretending to be asleep thought `I wonder what Ian Britton`s Burnley legacy would have been if he hadn`t have scored THAT goal?`. I have absolutely no other memory of his Burnley career. If the old buggers on here (over 50s) could fill my goodself and other younglings in (45 and under) it would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you get your 3 yr old asleep at 1.55pm?

The toilets behind the old Bee Hole End. Hellish but forever a part of my adolescence.

During the sixties Steve Kindon had to stop to let me out of a doorway in Burnley, the week after he broke his leg. During idle moments I used to wonder whether those few seconds might have changed events such that he didn't break his leg, a bit like the film 'The Butterfly Effect'.

I was there watching him, I went to Coventry away to watch them, and went to Sheffield Utd away to watch them. I used to go out drinking with Skippy, West, Probert, even teetotal Dave Tomas', I still say Sixties?

Remember Ian Britton being carried shoulder high outside the Park View, think it was after the parade for the Sherpa Van Wolves game. I cant remember much else apart from the Orient goal and a football card from his Chelsea days with an amazing hairstyle.

I often wonder what would have happened if Coyle hadn't gone to see his mum in Scotland.

Exactly, idle thoughts about cause and effect with a youthful obsession about Burnley football vlub.
