Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
Think he should play on Sunday on merit , ok if he throws one in then it's back to lowts but I think he deserves another go , lowts is class but perhaps needs a bit of a kick to get him back to where he should be

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
Bardsley has, on the whole, been excellent for us when called upon.
Been a good signing, probably knew he wouldn't be
an automatic starter.
I like him.

Very committed. Doesn’t quite have the delivery required from an overlapping fullback.ElectroClaret wrote:Bardsley has, on the whole, been excellent for us when called upon.

In fairness though, Lowton hasn’t quite clicked yet this season. Not much between them on current form for me and I wouldn’t be disappointed if Bardsley was starting on Sunday. Could not believe some rated him 5 on the player scores versus Olympiacos.
Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
It's amazing how opinions change so quickly. He was complete rubbish just 3 weeks ago.
As for the interview, it will be the same old, as said by SD and the rest, he will not divert from the script.

One of the best players on the pitch last night. For Olympiakos.

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
I like Bardsley always have, still cringe at least twenty times a game though.... part of why I like him too I guess, but your right Lowton has a habit of taking a few games to get going.... but would/could that be a mental switching on thing that will still be the same whenever he's brought in? He always seems to be on the point of fans turning on him when he kicks in and becomes a star performer. That is how it seems to me anyway.Indecisive wrote:Very committed. Fortunately, they work in offices and factories well away from the front line.

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
Its hard with Lowton. He’s the most progressive and offensively threatening of the two I guess. On form, he’s a clear starter. Currently, I wouldn’t be shocked if Dyche started Bardsley on Sunday.elwaclaret wrote:I like Bardsley always have, still cringe at least twenty times a game though.... part of why I like him too I guess, but your right Lowton has a habit of taking a few games to get going.... but would/could that be a mental switching on thing that will still be the same whenever he's brought in? A few tough decisions coming up I think. Heaton/Hart, Lowton/Bardsley, Ward/Taylor... if/how and when to introduce Vydra....how to get Hendrick playing in his most effective position without displacing an in form Westwood and a reliably solid Cork?
Europe, although a stretch on our resources, did allow us to get game time into players and potentially keep a lot more of them happy.

Bardsley is an intelligent footballer. Very composed.
Chooses his pass and moves for a possible return, even into midfield. Was coached well clearly on! Knows the game.

No need, Dyche probably already has.Leisure wrote:Fancy telling him that?

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
I have all the time in the world for Bardsley, I have a memory of him when he was on loan here first time being a model professional. Last game of the season the players came out and did a lap of honour, as is the way now everyone wanted a shirt, boot or shin pad and were asking politely and some not so politely, Bardsley ignored them all and walked all the way round to the disabled section and gave his shirt, his boots and his shin pads out there.
You knew he had a good football upbringing right then.

With players like Bardo, Lennon, Long and Hendrick(although he's beginning to sway opinion) for example, there's just a clear confirmation bias off certain posters.
On the rate the players ratings, you can add 1 or 2 to their median scores, and that will probably more fairly reflect their rating.
Anything positive they do in the game isn't registered in their heads yet anything negative is amplified; it truly is a bizarre phenomenon.

Absolutely. And but for injury this is exactly the signing Walters would have been too.ElectroClaret wrote:Bardsley has, on the whole, been excellent for us when called upon.

He’s been brilliant in the European ties but you have him facing anyone with any pace and he will collect yellow cards like figarini panini stickers. Horses for courses

I think last night though that delivery was crucial against a side pinned back, so a ‘5’ may not have been inappropriate. I do like him, but Lowton not playing was simply farcical unless carrying an injury which I have to assume he wasn’t.

I've seen one clip where's he's basically telling the Man U players to pull themselves together and play, whether they like Jose or not.Vegas Claret wrote:So what did he say on radio 5 then ?

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
This reminds of the Proust book (In Search of Lost Time) where he starts a subject then talks and talks about some issues relating to it but never gets to the point. Hence a book of six volumes where you learn little.

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
A family member and a few of my mates I go on with can’t wait to slag certain players off, Long can be superb for 80 minutes and play one bad pass and be blasted. It gets to the point where you can’t be arsed listening to it.CoolClaret wrote:With players like Bardo, Lennon, Long and Hendrick(although he's beginning to sway opinion) for example, there's just a clear confirmation bias off certain posters.

In search of lost time should be made into a box set that you can watch the six episodes then learn little.
That about sums up every box set produced The Wire been the exception.

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
I aint a Bardsley fan but he is absolutely what we need as a backup full back. Dogged, determined can defend and committed to the cause. That saId he is not a patch on Lowts who should be straight in when Dyche is picking his strongest 11

Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
But Lowts has that bad habit of trying to block with his right foot when he should be using his left. This however means he turns sideways on and is less effective at blocking shots as at Fulham.
Re: Bardsley on R5 Live shortly
Offers us little or nothing going forward but solid enough at defending. Our results are not great when he has played and whilst obviously not all down to him we definitively miss something going forward when Lowton does not play.
They both cost virtually nowt so can’t complain !
