Our problem is we have lost too many good players and just not replaced them with ones who are as good. Tough to do that for any manager when the purse strings are so tightly controlled.

Re: Absolutely disgraceful
In my opinion, last season is costing Dyche dearly, because we have reached the pinnacle (Dyche's words) of where this club can go. The only way is down from there. That's what we're seeing this season.
He can't pick a side that is doing it like last year - maybe they are struggling for motivation. I think he doesn't know what to do now, but I wish we could start defending properly and maybe play some football too, this hoofball is s***e.
I expect him to continue on like this whether we're in the relegation battle or not. He's the biggest person at BFC and it seems no one dare challenge his philosophy.

Re: Absolutely disgraceful
Today was garbage and it all stems down to our midfield performance. When we had Boyd, Barton, Marney, Jones, Arfield in midfield (choose your combination), they worked their balls off closing down the opposition and then getting the ball forward quickly to our two strikers (choose your combination). Today, Huddersfield were able to get close to our box and get cross in after cross with no challenges. I know that Lennon, Cork and Hendrick are technically better players than the fore-mentioned but they don't work hard enough to close down and protect the back four. Lennon and Westwood simply aren't good enough anyway and it wouldn't bother me to see them permanently on the bench or out of the squad. Added to this, we have strange starting elevens and tactics from Dyche, plus his substitutions are totally baffling. £40 million plus worth of signings on the bench and we revert loyally to players, who played well in the championship. Sorry, things need to change tactically , mentally and personnel wise soon. The football we are being served up is dire, predictable and not worth the money.

Re: Absolutely disgraceful
Today’s performance was less than dire, pitiful could be a better adjective! 3 points were begging to be taken, we managed a paltry 1, there’s obviously “trouble darn’t mill”. There are many things to be sorted out before we become a relegation candidate. Has he “lost” the team room?
It’s becoming clear there’s a “Mexican standoff” between Dyche and the board. Is Dyche looking to be fired , so he can take on the Villa job, which would possible be attractive to him? On the other hand, the board are parsimonious to say the least, it would cost a pretty penny to replace Dyche. Who would replace Dyche, it’s not exactly a plum job, tha knows.
The next 2 games will be the tell tale, a point from either will be a bonus.
Interesting times ahead.

What exactly is wrong with voicing your displeasure once the game is over? I just get up and leave personally but i don't condemn those that booed..a performance such as today more than deserved it.ClaretAL wrote:Yes we are poor at the moment, but what is absolutely disgraceful is the booing at full time, some fans need to have a word with themselves.
Booing the players during the game is unacceptable..after the game fine. They get an ovation when they play well..they must take the rough with the smooth.

He's certainly got to think about his substitutions in future as well, I think Cork is a cracking player, but he was having a mare today.
Still, full squad will be fit after the international break so we will see if this was a complete one off.

Can’t be bothered reading most of the juvenile, emotional, reactionary crap on here. Yes we’ve been awful this season, but most people seem to believe we’re capable of much better, so why not just accept we’re going through a bad patch, rather than calling for the head of the man who’s brought a level of success most of us never dreamed of a few years ago.

I pay for my Sky subscription as well as other tv channels here in Spain, part of which goes to the Pl and then to Bunley FC. Last season I flew back from Spain for six matches at an estimated average cost of £250 per game. The season before I flew back for nine games at a similar cost I was a season ticket holder from 1960ish to 2012, during which time I hardly missed a game and saw, I estimate about 40% of away games. So I think over the years I have paid my dues.

Re: Absolutely disgraceful
Well look at you all getting stuck into Sean. Its almost like you were all waiting for a poor performance. We won at Cardiff last week. They only lost 1 0 at Tottenham today. Pochettino out? No, just a realisation that there are no easy games. Could we be better tactically? Of course we could, but there are 11 very competent players stopping you trying to achieve your objectives. We do need to find a way to win games like these, but is the way to achieve this by sacking Sean. I tell my grandchildren that they will never see better times than these. Lets just be realistic eh? Its a far tougher league than the championship and the longer we stay up, the harder it will be to drop back down. Is the answer to bet the ranch now? No, as it would be catastrophic to go down with a load of big signings. sean is the best thing to happen to us. Be patient, he has the wherewithal to sort us out, and I have every confidence that he will.

A ugly draw, deserved to lose really but didn’t due to Huddersfield lack of proficiency in front of goal, realistically league retention is job done, not easy on the eye but a point which could be crucial in the final reckoning. On the back of Bournemouth & Cardiff & this in some ways however you gather the points it’s not to bad.

What has changed since the first PL season in terms of quality? Nowt. Its still shockingly awful.
Re: Absolutely disgraceful
I've been watching for over 30 years and I've had season tickets for most of those seasons. I've seen some utter dross in that time but I've always got behind the team. We've always been little old Burnley and we've gone through financial hardship in that time which meant that expectations were always kept in check.
Today was about as bad as I've ever seen us given our status. It was like watching a terrible Steve Cotterill side or maybe even akin to the Chris Waddle era. Now, before anyone jumps down my throat about this, let me explain what I mean.
Under Cotterill we did what we could to survive. Our best players were sold and not replaced, all our signings were free and we didn't really have a squad of players. Our resources meant that those god awful performances were somewhat acceptable. We were in full survival mode.
Fast forward to today. We're a PL club. This is our 4th season in the last 5 in the top flight. We have more money, more resources, a bigger squad and more Internationals than we've ever known. Right now we should expect more than hoofball. There's no excuse for that today and I find it very hard to get behind the team when there's so little to shout about. We're a one man team going forward. If we don't get the ball to JBG we're knackered and that's embarrassing. The football is non existent and this is a team that cost us serious money. For example, we brought £25m of players on from the bench today... just let that sink in.
Forget about 30 years ago. Forget about where we were and start thinking about where we are. Anyone booing today has every right to do so. We're a top flight club playing bottom flight football. Hoofball doesn't cut the mustard anymore, simple as that. Dyche has always played direct but long balls were only ever part of the plan. Currently it's the only plan and that's the depressing thing. We might as well just play 4 up front and leave the midfield out.
I'm utterly bored going on The Turf at the moment and that upsets me more than anything else. I love the club, I love the game, I love what we've become in recent years and my expectation has always been the same: 17th or better please. However, there needs to be more to the game than this. Where's the entertainment?

watching the game on TV today, we just didn't have the wide players running with the ball, being able to pass around with attack in mind and playing on the floor.
I just didn't see how Huddersfield had so much space from the wings and getting into our area/box.
All we offered was a few passes and hoof it up to a striker.

The world cup should have gained us a few players which if not attracted to the club due it size, using us as a stepping stone and a tidy profit after.
Too many excuses when other clubs have managed perfectly well.

You don't need to spend millions of pounds to be able to string 2 passes together. Look at the football we played under Coyle, who spent absolute peanuts compared to what Dyche has had.CombatClaret wrote:Having got us here in the first place.

We've done well up to now making the team better than the sum of it's parts. To quote the excellent Mirror article, we can't outrun our circumstances forever.

How arrogant have we become...? We drew twice with hudds last season. Its not a disaster. As dyche said. 7 from 9 is very good at this level. especially when onenof those was destroying bournemouth... who are 3 points off top!
If we are outside the bottom 3 in january we are in a good place.
Cardiff smashed again today
Newcastle threw a 2 goal lead.
Huddersfield didnt gain groun on us
Onwards and upwards. Utc

Re: Absolutely disgraceful
We don’t need a new manager. We need the excellent one we have got to realise his current way of thinking isn’t working this season. Whether we have been found out or not it’s been awful so far this season.
Can we get Howe back purely for the transfer window though.

Re: Absolutely disgraceful
The thing with great managers is when football changes they change there approach and change there teams style, football has changed massively these past three years.
Dyche isn't a great manager because he isnt flexible it's the same week in week out regardless of results or performances.
He's got too many favourites he refuses to drop an this form has gone on now since late 2017, its awful.
If it was in the same season we'd be relegated how long do we wait?
If this was any other manager in Burnleys history we would be saying the players aren't playing for him anymore, they don't look motivated anymore.

I'm curious to know why some posters think 12th is now great but yet when we were in the bottom it was "early doors"?
I want SD to stay of course but the way we don't adapt to games is worrying. Vydra on with 5 mins or so left? This happens every week

I think most fans understand we are punching above our weight and that last season wasn't going to happen every year, we've all seen the poor performances in Burnleys history, we've all seen what great things Dyche has brought to this club.
We know we can't play teams off the park, we know we arent known for entertaining football but it's the performances which are worrying, the tactics an substitutions from Dyche the lack of any ideas an motivation, the stubborness or lack of ability to refuse to change whats going wrong that have fans calling for a change.
