Linesmen and the Bob Lord experts
Once again, the linesman in front of the Bob Lord Stand got abused from start to finish by the experts in the stands.
The chance for Morata which Hart saved caused even more anger than normal. Of course, once we saw the replay on MOTD it becomes clear that the linesman was right all along. Let's face it, he is the only person in the ground whose job it is to check for offsides, unlike the people watching who see the ball played and then look to where it has gone and base their view on what they see then!
Not forgetting all the numpties who complain when the flag does not go up immediately the ball is played - how many times do you need telling - he is not offside until he goes for/plays the ball!!!!!!
Let's not forget also the usual suspects shouting "Linesman, linesman, where's he going????" if one of theirs pinches an inch, but are strangely silent when we do it.
He must feel like turning round and telling us all to sod off and learn the laws of the game before complaining.
To sum up:
1, He knows and understands all the laws, unlike a lot of fans.
2, His job is to watch for infringements all the time, unlike all the fans.

You’re right, I’ve never known a linesman to make a mistake!!
Btw, I’m not in the BL stand.

Agreed the BL Zimmers need to learn the rules of the game. Hopefully that kok near the 100 club in the leather jacket will lose his voice soon.

Did he get that right, or David Luis throwing the ball at one of our players?

Both the Liner and Pawson were looking straight at Luiz as he threw the ball at one if our players, it was a definite yellow. I agree the Liner probably gets the majority correct but often the big clubs benefit from some inept officials. Moss should have been sacked after last weeks shocking display.

Why don’t you have a word with some of them? I sit in Bob Lord and hear some of them to the right of me giving the linespersons stick, however are you telling me that the knuckle scrapers in that corner section of JHL don’t give the other Lino stick?

Of course, football fans the world over give stick to officials and it will never change. maybe it is part of their enjoyment.
As for having a word - that would be like trying to persuade someone on a Message Board that they are wrong about something.
The Alonso incident comes down to opinions which as you know are like ar..holes in that we all have one.

Re: Linesmen and the Bob Lord experts
My bug bear was not the shout for offside against Morata because from where I was sat he was well on side and we were caught square.
What he did let Chelsea’s do that he clamoed down immeduately with us from the start of the second half was run back in from an off side position and then chase the ball down, everytime we did that the flag went up. Morata must have done it half a dozen times or more in the first half with no flag. Nothing came from it for Chelsea but it doesn’t make it right.

Most of those in the BL have forgotten more about BFC than those who populate the JHU. To be honest those who go in the Upper go there because they do not have the bottle to go in the CFS.

I recall Arsenal setting the trend of a back four putting a hand up as one when a striker was about to make his move invariably he'd be onside but they got the decision more often than not.keep on berating the linesman I say.

Even 1 2 3 and a bit and stuff.
Today's youth, who pleaded for the club to open the Cricket Field Stand so we could collect all today's youth into one spot competing with the away fans for noise are absolutely pathetic. Ok ... we probably played anything like in the first ten minutes ... but who knows if the so-called super fans really got an atmosphere going.
On Sunday ... not one No Nay Never ... not one Shaun Dyche claret and blue army ... not one Lancashire Home ... or if there was one I couldn't hear it in the JH Upper.
As for the booing off of one of our players !!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Unbelievable.
Don't get at the old uns in the Bob Lord ... cos when they were young uns ... they would easily outclass the modern variety.

Leave us alone - we've done our share in the 60's and 70's and it's now time to
sit on our fat ar$es and moan and groan and abuse for England.
It's our right as we have earned it over the years. The old cricketfield stand and longside
would put any of you young upstarts to shame. We knew how to support our team.
So there, put that in your pipe and smoke it !!!!!!!

Re: Linesmen and the Bob Lord experts
Of course fans get offsides wrong, but we enjoy having a go at the Lino. Means our players don’t need to. Think there was one where the Lino looked to have not kept up with play and Morata looked offside. No I wasn’t in line myself and could easily have been wrong. Morata however is good at timing his runs and I did see some decisions that were correct, that led to verbal abuse towards the Lino. What I will say, (and I could be wrong, but don’t think I am) is that Tarks does not enjoy playing against Morata. That is why he treads a fine line with how he tries to deal with him. Tarks can tell that Morata isn’t too keen on the physical aspect of the game. Lost it for a few seconds at one point.

I sit in the Bob Lord stand and thought there were 2 offside decisions not given in our favour. If I was proved wrong, fair enough. However, I always look across at the fans in the JH stand as a kind of verification. On both occasions the fans in line were also going mental. So I am looking forward to your next post berating the experts in the JH stand.CaptainKirk wrote:Once again, the linesman in front of the Bob Lord Stand got abused from start to finish by the experts in the stands.

If Mr kirk actually knew why the experts were having a go at the linesman It would have stopped him posting such rubbish trying to be clever
On at least 3 occasions in the first half he gave decisions when he was nowhere near being up with play and that is what was being shouted at him. He may well have got one right, but it was pure guess work

Grumps, were you the one that shouted "Linesman, you got that right but you still were not in position!" Quality.
Forget my actual post and cannot see it from here but I don't remember claiming to be an expert. I was stating that the linesman is better qualified and is in a better position than all the people who think they know best sat behind him. Also, on balance, I think they are probably not biased.
Also, I wasn't trying to be clever, I guess it just comes naturally.
